Is this a thing? I have a dealer telling me that they made a 1500 with 3/4 ton parts, axles etc, it came with a 5.7 hemi, but it's a 1500. The dealer said they only made them an '06 '08. Does anyone have any info on this?

I see it's 8 lug, so is it just the axles that are from a 2500? or do they share more parts?

I think basically everything even the frame and less leaf springs in the rear thats why they sit lower. Basically they rebadged a 2500 to a 1500 because they didn't have a real crew cab yet and now they could say they have the largest cab in the 1500 class.

Needed a 2500 frame and chassis to carry that giant body, but still a 1500 with the hemi because that's what its cargo/tow rating fell into. Was a 2500 or 3500 (they made MegaCab duallies) with the Cummins for the same reason.

I owned a '07 MegaCab 1500 with the 5.7L HEMI.

Everything that made up a 2500 was on that truck except for the 1500 springs.

I found this thread and have the '06 Mega Cab 1500 5.7 Hemi.

Lately, if the truck sits for a day or two, it has a bad lifter-tap (not the tic - have heard it)...

I have been running 5-20 Mobil full syn with either a Mobil or Purolator filter (NEVER Fram).

It takes about 4-5 minutes to warm up enough for the tap to go away and then it is as silent as a mouse.

So, I am at 2750 on my oil change mileage, literally just turned 170,000 (170,019) and it happened again today. Yesterday had a 160 round trip, highway run. Got in it this morning and very loud.... never revved it up, just let it sit, got to almost temp and it slowly went away. Let it run for about 10 mins at idle, took it around the block, let it get to full temp then just put it up on the ramps.

I just drained the oil and it was a bit thin... and I don't do a lot of city miles - hardly any and I haven't pulled a boat or anything in 3 years. I do not have the MDS since it is Mega Cab.

What are you all's thoughts on going to 5-30 from 5-20? Or, do you have other suggestions?

This doesn't happen all the time. Only like 3/4 times in the past 4-5 months.

Haven't used it but ppl here like redline (red bottle) its pricey and you have to order it. Have you tried priming the oil pump if it has sat for awhile?

I had some Marvel's setting around. I use it in my 1977 C10 before I change the oil (about 100 miles before the change)..... It has 360k on the 350 motor!! still doesn't smoke or anything.....

Anyway, I had a full bottle laying around so I dumped it in the crankcase and it stopped the clatter almost immediately. I changed the oil and filter, drove it to work Wed, left it there.... flew out of town until yesterday and started it up and no clatter whatsoever.

So, I think I may have had a little sludge in the motor somewhere. I'm about to sell it so it was like, "dang, right when I'm about to sell this sucker something like this happens!!!" But all good. quiet as a mouse again this morning when I went to work. I was going to post this today so your timing was perfect!
