I have a 2019 1500DT. The doors are getting a few dings. I don't have the door molding on the truck. But it appears that most of the dings are hitting above the moldings I have seen available.

The molding fitment seems to go on the lower of the two door metal crease/bends. I am not fond of the "chrome looking" moldings I have seen. Though they seem ok on some of the limited models I have seen. But it still seems to break of the lines. Is there any that are heavy enough for the lower crease to protrude far enough out to protect the upper crease. ( where I catch all my dings ) Also, are their any that are paintable as i would like it the color of the truck, something more along the lines of the fender well moldings.

Also, If I use a molding with a self adhesive tape, is there some method of cleaning and removing that residue or the molding in the future if I want to change it , or just plain don't like how it breaks the lines of the truck?

You can use a heat gun or hair dryer along with isopropyl alcohol or enamel reducer to remove the molding and residue. The fishing line method works also for the molding itself. Before you put the molding on wipe the area with isopropyl as well. Many moldings come with a wipe.

A couple of comments--these are not intended to be smart a** remarks just a couple of thoughts-----I always park as far away as I can from other cars and trucks--the walk is good for me and usually people don't park next to you and beat the hell out of the side of your truck. Secondly, a lot of people have installed "steps" on their truck to help others get into the truck but they also stick out far enough to stop some door dings. Third, good PDR guys are worth their weight in gold. They can fix door dings so you never know they were there. Other than that I have to agree with Quickster 2--he has given you some great information.
