The idea of the rubber washer is to hold the roller down. It's been working thus far anyway.
It's been the best option for me so far. The washer last me about two years before needing replacement.

I know there's a few threads on this already. I tried multiple types of lube, oil, etc and they work for a while but it comes back. I realized that the roller would work its way all the up which didn't allow it to rotate freely. This causes the noise.

I tried a rubber washer to see if it would work well to stop that contact. I bought some plastic ones to replace the rubber one with if it worked but worn out. It's been two months and the rubber one is still there. I don't think I would try anything else as this takes all of 10 seconds to do. View attachment 466884View attachment 466885

The rubber washer just slips over the post. You may have to tap the roller down so it can fit. It's a quick and cheap fix. Worth a try if you're tired of spraying crap on the hinge.

Just an update, the original washer finally wore out and I put another one in. I forgot how bad this sound is, opened my door heard it and instantly looked to see if the washer was there and it wasn't.

Man, I should search these forums more often. I've been dealing with this hinge crap for about a year. Spraying all kinds of different lubes on the hinges, to no avail. Guess I'll be searching my garage for some washers, or going to to the store to buy some!

For me, they go on easier dry then applying a little lubricant after it's in place before moving the door. They are small enough that oiling them before hand makes getting them to stay in place difficult.

I just had a Crown oil spray application and my driver door squeak is gone
I get Krowned annually (love the stuff and the service). The squeak will come back though...but I'm going to apply some Krown directly on it since the washer is gone again and see the result.

The best for door hinges is Bel Ray blue tac chain lube.

Just stumbled across this thread the other day. Went and bought the rubber washers listed above and tried them. Tapping the roller down and putting the washer on did fix the noise.......but the rubber washer won't stay in place. If you look at it everytime you open and close the door the washer keeps getting pushed back up and pops off the post. I tried 2 different washers thinking the first one got damaged or overly stretched. And spent several minutes making sure the second one was fully seated and not twisted or distorted. After about 6-7 times opening the door the washer gets popped off the post.

I think it'll work best dry if it's lubed up (I have the same issue). The last time I just sprayed with Krown and that's held up the longest so far.

Those little square-shaped flat plastic closures found on some loaves of bread are what is said to be a virtually permanent fix.

My original fix that I posted here worked for a long time. Eventually the washer wore out earlier this year and the one I replaced it with didn't last as long for some reason. I had a plastic washer laying around that I cut a slit in and snapped around the post. Been a few months now and it's working good. Those bread bag clips would probably work great. Luckily all of the solutions here are inexpensive but I always misplace the extras I buy but I know I can get one of the clips from the kitchen any day I need it lol.
