I just bought a 1979 W150 and it has been sitting for approximately 12 years. Needless to say the gas tank needs to be drained. It is almost full. I can not for the life of me get a siphon hose into the tank. I started out with a garden hose and have worked my way down to 1/4" hose with no luck. Is there some kind of trick or am I going to have to drop the tank while full and probably weighing 200 lbs?

Last time I siphoned gas from an old vehicle there was a "screen" to prevent doing that. I remember having to push real hard and basically break through it. Not sure if this helps but figured I'd offer what I have.

Maybe if you peek up under the bed ,where the fuel nozzle is you could try removing the overflow/vent hose and gain access thru that, I do not know for sure but maybe worth a shot.

There's a screen. Best to just drop the tank and dump it.

Where is the fuel pump on that truck. Might be able to disconnect the line and pump most of it out.

... I've just remover about 4 or 6 depends on the year model .
bolts that hold the bed on . get about 4 buddies OR 2 GORILLAS
& JUST LIFT THE BED OFF.
.. oR PICK IT UP & PUT SEVERALS 2X4'S UNDER IT TO HOULD IT UP IN PLACE.
............
........ bLOW THE DUST FROM AGOUND THE GAS FUEL PUMP REMOVE IT & PUMP THE FUEL .. Now it's much easier to remove the tank.
