Dreaded gas, cap light

My 2014 hemi 5.7 has a check gas cap light after replacing the fuel pump no check engine light just check gas cap. Any ideas?

Is the Gas Cap from Mopar ?

You might try cleaning the underside of the gas cap & top of the Fill Tube as a 1st step

Check out the Purge Valve, if you can blow through it
It is likely bad

Yes gas cap is factory I don’t currently have the truck to check anything but I will be checking it tomorrow, I’ve had similar issues in a different ram but it has the gas cap message with a check engine light but this one doesn’t have the check engine light

p0456 small air leak

stop by a auto parts store & request that they check your Ram for codes

chances are you messed up evap line when you did the pump and or did something to the filler neck fastest way is to take it to a shop have them smoke test it you will have your awnser no guessing ro firing the parts cannon

It is true, when you raise the tank the last few inches ..
the hose(s) & wiring can easily get pinched against the undercarriage.

For just that reason, many shops lift the bed, instead of dropping the tank

I did lift the bed but I did find a pinched vent line so hopefully that will fix it

.y code ended up being a bad ESIM which is on top of the tank. Swapped it and good as new. I originally changed caps, because mine did seem loose. When I took my ESIM off it sounded like it was full of rocks and new one didn't make a sound when shook.

What is the esim? Is the vapor leak detector ? Old one sounded the same as new one shaking rocks, but the shake test isn’t the way you test those anyway.

I was replacing mine regardless, just saying that old one was definitely shot. Yes, it is the evaporative system integrity module.

I had the same message on my Dash recently. It does not always throw a code, sometimes just the message. It was just the message for a couple weeks, scanner would not detect a code and no check engine light. Then the check engine light came giving the 0456/0457 codes. I bought a new gas cap, the old one was a bit loose. In my case it was the Evaporative Emissions System Fuel Vapor Leak Detector Pump . An 18 to 22 dollar part depending what brand. Amazon link It's a Dorman part # 310-219. Boosted Motor sports did great video on replacing which helped me figure out where it was.

I have a 2015 6.4L HEMI that a piece of tape is what it take to fix this problem, The dealer tells me that I need a new cap, purge valve, new pump, all new plastic lines and maybe a new tank. Everything except the lines and tank have been replaced twice, then the lists continued that would have cost over $5,000. dollars, wow. I should have kept my Ford or my 2000 Ram with 500,000 true miles

Has anyone done a Proper Smoke Test ??

A Smoke Test should have been done before any work was done.

There is No way to pin point an Emissions Leak
It is 1 of those codes that could be 1 part of 5 parts setting it off
