Really aggressive install on my 2014. Bilstein 2.8 front with TGC 3/4” rear. Just had Fuel Rebel 20x10 -18mm offset wheels installed today with Fuel Gripper AT’s 325/69/20’s.

The installers assured me they would fit with some minor trimming. And they did. However, checking things out after I got home, I noticed that the trimming on the drivers side exposed a wiring harness. This has me concerned because this is going to get doused with water as soon as it rains.

Is this a non-issue, or is this something I should cover up with a boot and tie wraps? Looks like the guy cut more out than was needed.

I would definitely try and cover it. Water and electrical connectors is juat asking for problems.

I ended up covering with some plastic liner and taped to the truck, then used the gorilla tape version of flex seal tape to cover everything up. I feel pretty good with it now.

You could feel a whole lot more relief if you use some dielectric grease on every individual wire connector, then reassemble & cover it again. Nobody likes vehicle electric hell.

I would buy new liners and then trim them properly. When we trim we normally use that wire harness as an anchor point to hold the plastic back requiring less trimming.

I’ll snap some more pictures tomorrow for you guys. I’d feel better getting another liner and trimming myself as well. I don’t want an electrical issue on my hands.

Cam you post a picture of this method? Do you actually tie the fender to the harness?

Your offset doesn’t seem like you would need to pull the liner back to gain the extra clearance. From your picture it didn’t look like the metal lip was shaved down. hit up Benny @AllMoparParts.com

Who knows why they trimmed all the way past the connector, lol tha's not really needed. I ran 37's with 2.75" lift and i didn't touch my fender liners like that but i run more caster than stock so my wheels are pushed a little farther away from that area.

I like what you did with the connector either way though and i'll be doing something similar. The liner is not exactly protecting the connector from the elements. the connector is right behind the liner so if you're doing water crossings that thing will get "wet" lol
And i can assure you if i haven't have electrical gremlins after a couple of water crossings i've done while offroading, you won't have any issues with just rain or snow. the way you have now is more protected than stock.

That’s good to know. The harness is something I never even noticed and it looks like it’s still exposed even with the liner in there.

My buddy brought up a good point, he said he’d be more worried about throwing a rock or piece of metal up into the harness, so the liner might still be a good idea to protect from impacts.

Just snapped some more photos. I honestly don’t think the liner needed trimmed after looking at it. He did have to take some of the metal out on the inner back portion of the quarter panel, but that looks like all that needed to be done.

Correct, the liner will protect the harness thing from anything solid the tires may throw at it to a point. anything to protect that area is better than nothing at all.

Your installer is a lot like my old neighbor Bob.
Bob got new carpet and none o his doors would close.
I told him how I used to do it when I was doing that stuff on weekends.
Trace a pencil line across the door with the pencil laying on a sheetrock square or a 3' ruler, score the line with a razor, circular saw shy of the line & smoothe it with a belt sander. Usually only one cut necessary and doors are still just a hair away from the carpet so you can't see under them.

I was too late. Bob said he took 1" off every door! Most had a gap you could pass a grilled cheese sandwich under while on a plate! What a hack! He said he even cut the one's that didn't need it much so the gaps were all the same!!! But they weren't the same. Bob measured up from the bottom of each door, not from the top of the carpet.

I hear Bob now works doing 4x4 lifts & big tire upgrades. Lol

Bob is, unfortunately a real guy. No lie.

Has anyone replaced one of these liners before? Hard to see before taking off the tire, but can they be completely changed from the fender well? Or do I need to access any screws from the engine bay requiring removal of parts?
