Well I got my driveshaft in from Driveshaft Pro and the quality is nothing short of perfection, the install was a piece of cake a simple parts swaps. I had one hiccup and it was my fault, I bought the Gearwrench 6-point swivel impact sockets and somehow I accidentally ordered the 12-point ARP bolts, didn’t realize it until right before the install. All the bolts were torqued to 90 ft-lbs with my trusty Craftsman 3/8 drive 14mm with a 3/8 drive swivel, the swivel held on just long enough to finish the last bolt. I’ll have to find a set of 12- point swivel impact sockets. Of course blue thread locker on all bolts. ARP recommends 98 Ft-lbs but OEM is 89 ft-Lbs so 90 ft-lbs it is! On the test drive it was perfect, I may be stupid but I swear it pulls harder, Ha!
While picking up my tools, the curiosity was killing me, so had to disassemble the OEM shaft to find out why it explodes. Upon inspection I immediately noticed the female side was reasonably thick and robust but the male side seemed to be extruded but very thin wall aluminum of which In my opinion is the culprit. Another happy customer!

Why didn't you torque to the arp spec? Arp specs higher because of the higher grade steel used than oem.

Gotta thank the bean counters on building the cheapest driveshaft they could, lol. Hopefully a few guys on here who haven't believed the horror stories about the 8 speed regular cab shortboxes driveshafts weaknesses see these pic's,and realize how weak it is.Thank-you for posting pics of the stock shaft in pieces.

People are also having issues cracking their 8-spd's, there is speculation that it is from driveshaft vibration, I have heard from several people that a two piece driveshaft is warranted like the Hellcat's two piece.

I might be one of them Ryan,i've been harping about a 2 piece shaft with a fabbed in steady/center bearing mount for years, lol

I’m sure Mando at Driveshaft Pro would have no issues building one.

The issue would be building a crossmember around the gas tank,to hold a center bearing, then put the slip yoke on the rear shaft at the center bearing. Anybody running a fuel cell at the rear would have no issue with fabbing in a crossmember ,but where the stock tank sits, kind of puts a crimp into an easy to mount crossmember.

This is true and the current crossmember is not center of the driveshaft, if we used it the rear driveshaft would be like a foot long.

You're 4X4 doesn't have the same issues Ronald. It still uses a normal one piece steel driveshaft with the slip yoke into the transfer case. The 4X4 drive shafts are good to 150+ mph.

With a little triming and modifying an old school Lakewood driveshaft loop is almost a bolt in on the 4X4's Ronald, and fits around the stock driveshaft with ease. I used the fuel tank bolt on the one side after triming off one ear,and then trimmed the other ear a bit and drilled a hole to bolt the other side in place. It puts the loop about 2" farther back then NHRA calls for,but i've never had a Tech inspector take a tape measure to it yet, they look and see that it's got one,and thats all most Tech guys care about, lol

Just ordered it! I would rather be safe than sorry! Small price to pay for what could turn into a disaster!

Thanks again!
