Does anyone know if the genie marries itself to your truck?

16' Express owner here and I have the toggle on the 8.4 to enable and disable after using Alfa. Tried every setting but prefer the signals as DRLs.

I understand not having an Android/Windows device especially for those that have Apple products. Maybe ask around to some friends? There is a lot of people out there that hang onto old phones and tablets. Or even hit up Wally World for a cheap Android tablet.

As mentioned before there is so much other than DRLs that you can do with this program. Best purchase for my truck to date.

What if I don’t have an android phone? Sorry I have apple
I'm in the same boat, going to borrow (or buy) a cheap Android phone or tablet for this purpose. I wonder why they can't or won't make an Apple version?

It is more than likely the scrutiny Apple has over developed apps. Android is a much easier platform to develop apps for.

Were you able to get the on/off toggle in your light settings?

Just want to thank you guys for this thread..

I've been pulling my hair out since upgrading my headlights on my 2017 Bighorn from the Quad style to OEM Projectors. Being in Canada our DRL is active however, its active through the high beam.. I've been to multiple dealers trying to have them change the configuration, add sales codes and even turn off the DRL so I could add an external module. None of them were willing to try saying they would need permission from FCA.

Well the OBDLink-MX showed up today and using the AlfaOBD app in less than 5 minutes I changed the configuration of the DRL output to the signal lights and disabled the fog light dropout with high beams so they stay on! Looking forward to exploring more options.

When I was buying my truck in February I ask the dealer to turn it on as part of the deal. The said they hadn’t had any luck in the past doing it. I found this and sent it to them and they turned it on.

Been hit or miss with that.

Also I figured I would add I just turned on the DRL on a 2016 Ram 1500 Limited and it got the toggle on/off through the 8.4 radio. Did this using the Alfaobd software.

One thing I have noticed with my truck with the Projector head lights the LED front turn signals at night seem extremely bright. My turn signals reflect off road signs. Is this normal ? I have drove a lot vehicles in 30 plus years nothing this bright. I was wondering if something was set wrong when my DRL were turned on. I never drove it at night before they were turned on.

They should dim down with your headlights on. Only real way to check is have someone sit in your truck and put it in gear with the headlights off. See what your LED's look like as DRL. Then have them turn on your headlights and they should dim down. They only dim down when you turn on your headlights.. they don't dim at parking lights.

So when activating DRL's from the dealership, is it the projectors or the amber turn signals? My dealership just told me my build sheet says projectors so it would just be having the projectors on all the time. Is this correct?
