I’ve been playing with the idea of using a leaf blower. Does anyone else do this after washing ? If not What is you’re preferred method and product to use.

Yes, I use my leaf blower to dry my truck. I also use the leaf blower to help clean the inside too... Blowing the vents plus... I use my air compressor too, helps lift dirt from the carpet.

More importantly, I use a quality water filter on my garden hose. This helps keep the water spots down. Lastly for decades I'm a Groits car care products fan. Yup, a bit pricey by well with it.

Matt Morman who owns Obsessed Garage uses a Ego battery powered blower. I have tried my Kobalt blower that does not have the cfm. My Sidekick blower is corded and is good for blowing out the door handles and areas where water hides. Nothing wrong with a leaf blower.

I use the leaf blower to dry the running boards and the grill as those tend to hold the water. The rest of the truck, I use a chamois like normal. If I dont, the water spots are awful with my well water.

I've used a leaf blower for years to dry my motorcycles. Actually I never thought to try it on our cars or trucks. I usually just use a chamois but now I'll give the blower a shot.

I use a leaf blower around mirrors, hoods any crevice that water will hide (around taillights)
I use this as a drying help for the rest of the truck

One benefit is that it is very cheap.

It does few things:
If you spray it it rolls water off or pools it into beads so its easier to remove and prevents water spots
Leaves behind a coat of wax that has a warm glow to the paint.

Just keep in mind that the coat of wax will only last for a month or so depends on the weather you're in. So IMO it is not a replacement for good paint protection.

A shiny one
I use this dedicated dryer on my Ram, it blows warm filtered air.

You spend time and effort washing your prized possessions and use only the most premium detailing tools to get the job
done, but what about drying? The most vulnerable time for your vehicle to become scratched is during the drying process! Every time you touch your vehicle with a towel, microfiber accessory, or even a chamois, you are introducing swirl marks, scratches, and marring your finish. This state-of-the-art drying accessory provides a high-powered, continuous blast of air to any surface, effectively removing water without any chance of scratching.
  • The safest touch-free drying method available
  • 4 HP, 88dB, 300 CFM
  • Includes rubberized attachments, fan tip and pointed tip.
  • Premium Rubber Swivel Casters
  • 15-foot rubberized power cord
  • Adjustable speed control with slow, safety-start.
  • Self-Expanding and retracting 30-foot hose makes clean up a breeze
  • Moves over 58,000 feet per minute of clean, warm, dry, filtered air
  • Includes 1 year warranty against manufacturers defects

I dry my truck with a soft towel or chamois and use a blower to get to all the hard to reach areas.

I also use a leaf blower and towels afterwards. I've got the Toro Ultraplus and it does a great job.

My wife is embarrassed when I whip out the leaf blower....says I look like an ****** blow drying my truck.

Just an FYI someone mentioned to me to stick with electric/battery operated blowers because the gas ones apparently blow out tiny particles of oil residue which is counterproductive for a nicely washed vehicle.

I just bought a Toro leaf blower. I get real tired chasing the water spots. The inline water filter does some of the job, but the hard water here is unbelievable.

I too use a corded leaf blower to dry areas of my vehicles. Normal drying procedure with a chamois then use the blower on the grill, wheels, and wheel wells.

As long as you keep a good layer of wax, Sealant, or ceramic the leaf blower works great to dry the entire truck. I did it for years until I found bead maker as my drying agent so now I apply bead maker while still wet and dry with my Adams extra large drying towel. That keeps a nice sacrificial layer on top of my ceramic coating.
