Engineering overkill....love it!

I ran the same set-up on my old 68Z-28 40 years ago and liked it back then, lol. Should be less pressure drop compared to the single filter set-up i'm currently running, but that's only on paper.Once it's installed i'll know for sure ,if the pressure drop differences are in my favour or not, lol.

I'm in the process of installing a Perma-cool 72988 kit. I wanted to use the stock filters so FCA doesn't try to complain that I'm using the wrong filter down the road when something happens under warranty.

I ended up mounting the remote mount on the inside of the frame rail in front of the engine. It's a straight shot for the hoses but I had to drill and tap the holes because there is no access to get nuts on and I didn't want to go all the way through the boxed frame. Made it a pain to get the two lower screws on the mount in since they're obscured by the oil passages. I am also having high pressure crimped hydraulic hoses made to avoid, or at least prolong, the inevitable leaking hoses when using the low pressure oil hose with clamps.

Look into Nordlock washers.

The metal is so thin, maybe 1 to 2 threads deep. I wanted to safety wire my remote screws, but had trouble finding the screws.
I finally went with loctite and Nordlock washers.

Got my remote filter setup installed. I put the remote mount on the frame rail in front of the engine. I felt the frame rail was thick enough to thread directly into with a 1/4-28 tap. Hoses ended up being about 1’ long and only had a slight curve.

We're still cold and snowy so I haven't got around to mounting mine yet,but I have ported it and cleaned up the casting flash on it,just need a nice enough day and some ambition to actually mount it,lol. That's where mine will mount also.I already have my single remote mounted there. On my single mount I did 5/16's studs ,as a stud is usually stronger, and it's easier to get a nut on a stud then a bolt in a hole on the remote mounts, lol. Curiousity makes me ask what the 1/4 turn ball valve is for.

Can you make a note of warm idle and cold idle psi before and after, and you gonna use same oil and weight? So maybe if you are about tomorrow take those notes brother.

Wild One, the valve is for taking oil samples in between full oil changes.

Burla, i changed the oil to Pennzoil Ultra platinum-2.5 qts of 5w-30 and 6 qts of 5w-20. Not sure what was in there before, it was something the dealer put in. My warmed up running oil pressure dropped from 53 to 51 psi. Temperature had been tracking several degrees give or take above the coolant temperature with the old oil but now is running several degrees below to equal to coolant temperature.

Hey now that's not a bad idea, might have to look into it myself, got a couple 1/2" ball valves laying around here somewhere, I like the Fumoto valve too, that I don't have on hand though, lol. I'm hoping to get mine on this week-end sometime, all I have left to do is drill and tap some new holes in the frame,as the holes and studs off my single mount don't appear to do me any good now,my hoses are already in place from my original single mount, and i'm just going to shorten them .

So you have a bypass and now it takes 8.5 quarts? Nice.

I'm sure the dealer was running straight 5w20, so can't really compare because not apples to apples. But good news clearly no issue with that psi.

Once I get mine on i'll update you on the pressures Burla,as I know where my truck ran on the stock filter and what it runs with the single remote filter, and the numbers are all from 5W-30 Redline. With the single remote filter I lost about 2 psi at idle and 1 psi at cruising speed, and my oil temps dropped roughly 5 degrees.

Finally got around to mounting my dual filter mount on today, and i'm seriously kicking my ass for ever running a single remote filter, lol. My hot idle oil pressure came up close to 3 psi,or about 1 psi higher then it was with the stock filter set-up,and running down the highway at 75 to 80 mph the pressures are up a good 4 to 5 psi higher then they ever have been, and my oil temps are down a good 15 degrees from what they were with the original stock filter and about 10 degrees down from what they were with the single remote filter. This is all with the same 5W-30 Redline and Royal Purple 30-8 filters. Does take a good 8.5 liters / quarts now to bring the oil level up to full though. For anybody thinking about doing a remote filter,i'd bypass the single filter set-up and go right to the dual filters, although the cost to do an oil change will increase some as you'll need 2 filters and about 1.5 more liters / quarts of oil.
Burla well worth upgrading to dual filters if you're thinking about it,lol

This is cool, bypass versus dual remote, so your not using a bypass just two full flow filters. Cool deal with spun microglass filtration, I bet your oil will be as clean or close as bypass, good deal for a gas engine.

Gave the dual filters the acid test yesterday afternoon. Outdoor temp was 70F. Ran it up the freeway at 85 mph for 30 miles, then pulled off onto my favorite secondary highway where you can see anything coming for 5 miles, and took the truck up to 205 to 210 kmh or roughly 130 mph for a 4 mile stretch my oil temps peaked at 203 and stayed there, with my old single remote filter set-up that same run would put my oil temps at 212 or slightly more. Then turned around and gave it a couple full throttle launchs up to a 100 mph where the oil pressure at 6100 rpm was 68psi ,then pulled over and checked idle pressure and with the oil at 203 it idled at 52 psi, then back to normal driving of 65 mph and with-in 4 miles my oil temps were back down to 190 degrees, and when I pulled back into town with-in 2 blocks the oil temps were back down to 185 same as my engine temps . I'm pretty pleased with this set-up,at one point in time i'd seriously considered adding a thermostatically controlled engine oil cooler, but now not so much, lol.Only real downside is the cost to do an oil change has increased by a bit now,as it takes roughly another 1.5 quarts of gold plated Redline and one extra RP filter to do an oil change
