Anyone know much about the new e torque engine? With the delays in the 2019 Ecodiesel production I'm starting to think RAM is trying to push e torque as the fuel saving alternative. But I don't know much about it.

The etorque replaces an alternator with a generator. It has a 48 volt lithium battery behind the rear seat. The generator will give you 130ft lb of torque at takeoff and it is supposed to boost gas mileage a bit. Coming from traditional Hemi getting 12 avg I get 16 with my Hemi etorque. Another thing to note is it does have start stop on it. I traded in my 17 eco for this 19 Rebel so if you have any other questions I’ll answer what I can.

Wait for the ECO if you can. 22 around town 28-30 at 55-60 mph. Towing in the Rockies 10.5-13. That's with a 26' RV in tow and 700 lbs in the bed

It is very funny to read about the new E-Torque. Nothing new about a motor generator assisting the fuel burner. Locomotives have been using this type of drive for more than 100 years. A friend of mine had a 1926 Dodge with a motor/generator it was used in place of a starter.

I hope only the best for FCA but will wait to see what happens when the battery and or the drive belt needs to be replaced.

See what happen? You mean maintenance like any other thing that wears?

People derided hybrids when they came into being 10+ years ago about the same concerns. Turned into a non starter of an issue and people adapted to the maintenance of them over time.
