Last month, the head of Ram stated that they were dropping the eco-diesel for 2023.
What the heck is going on ?
Sometimes I wonder if the costs and gut punches in quality ratings they have taken because of the Bosh CP4 variants are the reason behind the decision, or at least in part. It is the same issue with the Cummins (Powerstroke and Duramax use the same pump) and it remains in the HD powertrain. I believe Jeep is hanging on to the ED, at least for now or has that changed?

Being as the Eco-diesel is being put in the 2023 Rams,
after telling the public that it would not be available

Public opinion must have had some bearing on the change of plans

The "public" was told it would no longer be available in the Ram after January 2023. Pretty sure we're not at that point in time yet.

Last weekend I did my first little trip 1100kms (683 miles) with my 2018 Eco diesel and I averaged 29.4 miles to the gallon. Never thought that it would get that kind of mileage especially from a truck. My 2013 2500 Cummins diesel would be almost half of that. Since I wasn't really driving the 2500 I sold it and bought the1500 and tows my buddies car trailer to the track with ease.

If I can toss something in here. In Ontar4io diesel runs roughly $2.25 to $2.30 per liter, 4.5 liters to a gallon. I get roughly 8 liters per 100km hwy. So to go visit my daughter 500km away it costs me roughly $90. My BMW it costs roughly $130 running premium. I take my daughters VW TDI and it costs my $40 because her car gets 4 to 4.5 liters per 100km. So the BMW I do the trip 1 way in about 4 hours cuz I cruise at like 80 nor 90 all the way. The TDI takes about 5-1/2 hours because it has no passing power on 2 lanes hwys.
My truck takes about 5-1/2 hours but I stretch out, have room for the whole family and 1/2 my house plus my dog stretched out in the back seat and he is 4' long and 150 lbs weather be damned. I flip into 4x4 high and go if I need
The truck is reasonable, super comfy and looks great. Its my favorite vehicle. Mtce costs and any def costs are negligable, all vehicles have them.
The real reason I drive the truck though! I can't find a sofa that gets me to where I wanna go for any cheaper, Planes, Trains just don't cut it. But a big comfy truck now that is heaven.

Seems like now that my truck has some miles on it (~28,000) my towing fuel economy is getting better and more consisteView attachment 503998nt. On a weekend trip from Medford, OR to Sisters, OR (about 190 miles each way) I got 14.3 going and 14.8 coming home. Both mileages calculated as the dashmy MPG is a bit optimistic. I get around 28 or 29 highway when not towing and anywhere from 19 to 22 around town. Very pleased over all.View attachment 503998

My 2022 1500 EcoDiesel took 15,000 mi to break in and learn my driving habits. Then I saw my mileage skyrocket up to 30-32 mpg @ 55-60 and 27+ mpg overall including interstate and mountain pass driving. What a difference from my previous 2014 1500 5.7L Hemi.
