My power steering felt heavy this morning, so I went to check the fluid reservoir. :derp!

I'm pretty sure we have electric power steering, but what would make the steering feel heavy, then?

The Gen4 trucks have had electric power steering since at least the '13 model year.
As for why it would feel heavy, possibly bad/dirty electrical connections or the battery is weak. Do you still have the original battery? It could be an indication that it's on it's way out.

I replaced the battery two years ago with a hefty 6 year interstate battery, but I will still get it checked. i got a new daily recently and retired my truck, so it;s been sitting for a week.

It may be the drive belt or something

No drive belt on electrical power stearing. Could it be that your daily has much easier powerstearing effort and you just got used to that one since you are 'dailying' it?

^ I thought of that. Turns out my tires are low and my new daily is small and light. May not be anything wrong with it al all. :/

There is a U- joint in the shaft that goes from the steering column to the electric power steering unit that is a common failure point. It could be that going bad. As an experiment try spraying it with wd40 or other spray lubricant to see if that is the issue. The wd40 isn't the fix, just a troubleshooting tool. If that fixes the issue then you need to replace that part.

Low tires do it everytime. Big difference between driving a truck and a car. Just make sure that U use a Good Digital gauge and air them all up when cold, not hot. Check the PSI sticker if U R not sure, just saying. I changed tires from SRA's to Falken Wildpeaks At3W's so I went up a few pounds on psi due to increased tread (rubber) on roadway, a world of difference.

Since U R in Montgomery, temp should not be a big issue, just the swings sometimes has an effect on PSI and all.
