I have 2019 Ram 1500 Longhorn edition with 5.7 L Hemi and E-torque system. My issue is an intermittent one and doesn't happen all the time. When turning left sometimes, the steering locks up momentarily and I have to jerk the steering wheel back to right and it seems to solve the problem. Happens sometimes on right side. Had it in twice to fix problem -first time, they reprogrammed the module control and second time, the simply pulled the ground wire off, cleaned them and put back on. Still not fixing the problem. Anyone else had this issue and if so, what was done to fix it. I have reservations about towing my RV trailer with this going on.

Does it light up any E-steering lights on the dash when this happens? Any codes?

This is a tough one if it's so intermittent.

New replacement E-steering racks are basically unobtainable at the moment.

No lights and no relevant codes when they hook up code checker.

The only thing I can think of is maybe TX heat has weakened the battery?

Blips of low system voltage can cause all kinds of odd issues that won't necessarily light any lights or set codes.

Well, battery is about 3 years old. Might be time to trade it out anyway.

Another thing to consider, but take this advice as coming from someone who has ZERO experience with electricly powered steering, but with old fluid power assisted steering, sometimes the gearing inside could get worn/broken, and that could cause spots where the steering wouldn't quite catch. Electrical motors can also get "dead spots" where the electrical contact inside just basically craps out. Being that it is only 2-3 years old now, while possible the electric motor for the steering is having this issue, it is not likely.

Had this issue with our 2016 Limited.
Replaced the E. Rack with one that only had 9000 mi on it. Still having the same intermittent problems only mine will totally lock up randomly after parking it.
I'm starting to believe its a wiring issue. recently I lost all switch control, heated wheel, 4 WD engagement, Horn.
I saw a YouTube video of someone repairing the steering wheel switch bank by locating a couple of broken wires at a harness connection in the steering wheel that was located next to the Airbag connection harness under the Wheel airbag. That's where I'm going next to check.
They tie into the steering control module on this particular switch bank but at this point I haven't got a clue if that's my culprit.

Well..This is little embarassing... I finally broke down and took it to my machanic. As I stated before I had taken the leeds and the fuses off of the +battery post and cleaned them. Then things improved but the steering still ****** at full stop right or left. I cleaned them using baking soda and water and cleaned the cable ends with light sandpaper. I told my macanic what I had done and he said he had never heard of anything like that. So I left it with him, 2 hours later he called and said it was fixed. He did the same thing I did but apparently did a better job. He used a screwdriver and wire wheel and really cleaned things down to the copper. Put it back together and BAM! fixed. $80 lesson. Thanks for all your input folks.
