If substituting the FOB isn't productive, have a look at the WIN module.

They're easy to find detailed information on, and YouTube has many videos that cover repair or replacement.

Also, search the threads at Ram Forum using the search icon in the upper-right corner or your favourite search engine with something like 'WIN module fault' or 'repair' and 'ramforum.com' .

This is what my mechanic said.
It’s a communication issue between the TCM (transmission control module) in the transmission and the ESM (electronic shift module) in the dash (shift knob).

These two units communicate on two wires. That white wire is an overlay for one of those two communication wires. The harness between the transmission and the shift knob is good, so I suspect either the TCM or the ESM is at fault but I have no way to know which.

This is something that may need to go to dealer to resolve. I will have it back together tomorrow so you can pick it up. I’ll text you when it’s ready. Those two wires are called a CAN network. One is CAN H (high) and the other is CAN L (low). Voltage on H line should be 2.6-2.7V. Yours is 3.2V. The L line should be 2.3-2.4V, yours is 1.8V.

I've encountered that issue and it went back to the gear selector not being "fully" into the park position. Like other have said, first try the "other" key. Then try cycling the gear shifter, sometimes that works.

Only have 1 key, and sometimes when I try to turn knob to D it will only go as far as Reverse. Installed new front hubs because they needed it and went for a ride to see how it handled, much better. When I reached my destination, went into park and key came out no problem. On my way home , about 1/2 mile from my house car lost power and throttle warning came on. Had it floored and would only go about 5mph. So pulled over and called AAA, while waiting I looked up this code and saile resting by pressing gas pedal and releasing slowly . It worked. Thinking this might be a computer problem. Any thoughts thanks
