this is what i found not sure if that is the tranny i have tho

When the 45RFE trans loses prime and is then restarted it can cause a surge that will either split the sump filter or pop it down out of the pump. The filter's neck goes directly into the pump and is sealed with a rubber seal. What has happened is either the filter has split or has popped down out of the pump and the pump is sucking air, there is no line pressure and the trans doesn't engage.

This isn't a major problem at all. All that will need to be done is drop the pan and either reinstall the sump filter, or if it's damaged it will need to be replaced.

Yes, I mentioned earlier that I have heard of filter issues causing these symptoms. That's why I asked if it had been serviced lately. I haven't really heard of a tranny working fine for years and then this happening, but who knows.

If you have an extended warrantee, I would remove any offensive mods you have on the truck and contact the dealer. Maybe they will cover the tow too with roadside assistance. Not sure I would start taking it apart myself if I had a warrantee.

Won't solenoids also do the same if they malfunction? I've had solenoid packs go out and lock me in 4th gear so...

I found this with a quick google search. Its easy just put the code in google and search. It sound like your problem.

TSB 21-007-06 addrresses an issue with delayed engagement with the 545RFE transmission.

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may experience an initial delayed shift engagement following an extended
off (not running) period of time, generally after being parked overnight. The initial shift
engagement may feel like a delay or slip when a transmission gear (reverse or drive) is
first selected after engine start.
The customer may also experience a MIL illumination. Investigation may determine that
the MIL is due to one or more of the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's):

P0868 - Line Pressure Low.
This DTC will be the most frequently occurring DTC for
the delayed shift condition.
P0944 - Loss Of Hydraulic Pump Prime.
P0731 - Gear Ratio Error In 1st.
P0736 - Gear Ratio Error In Reverse.
P0841 - LR Pressure Switch Rationality.
P0876 - UD Pressure Switch Rationality.

The delayed engagement and MIL condition (DTC's) may be caused by a suspect
transmission cooler return filter with a part number of 04799662AB. A suspect
cooler return filter may cause the transmission sump filter to split at its
plastic-to-metal crimp. If the transmission sump filter becomes split at the crimp, then one
or more of the above DTC's may also occur.

I would let the dealer fix it under warranty.

So then it's best for me to take out the VR and put back the stock one. As far the muffler and TB I can't exchange out and I'm sure a catch can isn't going to void anything anyways.

I don't think any of those mods should void anything. They would need to determine that those mods directly caused the specific problem.

so they came yesterday and picked it up. they are also going to fix pinion nut from the recall notice and what ever needs to be fixed regarding the tranny. They said they will call me but it may take up too 2 weeks cause of the large amount of cars and trucks that they have been getting due to the storms here. Here is my truck leaving and here is what they gave me for the loaner car. not having my truck and having this thing really sux.
