I've had several new vehicles & never ever any engine issues but i think my luck has came to an end with my new 15 cc sport. The 5.7 hemi engine is knocking & ticking fairly noticeably @ less then 1,400 miles when it's 1st started, even on a mild day.
I'm wondering if this is happening to alot of people & should i wait till after the 1st oil change to see if it'll go away or blow it up then take it in for a replacement engine?
I've had chevies, fords & hondas & never ever an issue with an engine until i got this one which is my 1st new dodge.

Fairly Common with the Hemi, take it in and get a record in case you qualify for a lemon law case. It is likely lifter tick which can become a cam problem, or an exhaust tick. Keep pushing the dealer to fix it, but many guys including myself have fixed this with high moly oil, read the syn thread.

My ram made a noticeable clack clack clack clack noise at idle and i wondered if i had the same "hemi tick". At the first oil change interval i told them about it and showed him. I was told it is a normal function of the hemi and since then they have been dumping a bottle of MOA in at every oil change. This was over 10k miles ago and with the MOA additive each time i have not had the issue reoccur. My hemi purrrrrs now and runs like a rabid gazelle.

BGMOA? It is the one additive I do recommend. But it isn't Moly additive, and I recommend it more as an extension to an oil change if someone needs to extend the interval. It is a calcium additive more then anything, with a little Moly. The moly is 150 or so PPM, but the container is so small when added to oil it would likely only be 2 or 3 ppm difference. However, it has 10,000 plus PPM calcium, which will boost tbn if you wanted to extend your oil interval. Anyhow, great that it worked, worth a shot, but I believe a good oil and filter would be a better choice in the long run. No harm in BGMOA poweredbyhemi but if it didn't work I'd change the oil. I believe it uses transmission fluid as it's base, or something similar, you may not want that in your truck if you actually have an engine failure and want the dealer to pay for it.

I would use BG MOA in my vehicle, and do in my wife's from time to time. Less necessary for an engine that gets Redline oil, but it is a hell of a good cleaner.

Thx for the replies, love this group. You people actually try & help each other out here as opposed to ridiculing like most the other x brand forums i've been associated with,(RF rocks).
I'm going to take it in next week & have it noted with the service dept as i have to check on my led map light as well, but other then this i absolutely love this truck & it's a joy to drive,i'm just worried about the engine lasting is all.

Good news for me is they put a lifetime warranty on the motor if they do oil changes. I do my changes at the dealer and they add the additive, it is their suggestion; i just pay for it under the $40 oil synthetic blend service. Hopefully it causes no harm still. Hope the OP can get his truck right.
