engine/trans/diff oils

which oils do you guys recommend?
do I need to run a different weight because its going to be supercharged?
whats the weight of all 3 and the oil cap so I can preorder online?

obviously I know ill need to add an extra 2 quarts to my tranny cuz the deeper pan, and im going to be getting a bigger diff cover but just want to know the stock numbers

Engine oil is 7 quarts w/ 5w-20 I believe. Haven't fooled around with the tranny/diff yet so no clue on that one.

Not sure about the supercharger part, but i would recommend amsoil. I use it both on the engine and tranny. Havent done the differential yet, but once i do i will probably do amsoil too

you're gonna have more opinions in this thread than you'll care to count. so many in fact you probably wont learn much. stick with manufacturers recommendations on oil weights and you're fine. not all oils are created equal but everyone is still arguing about which one is best, so its yet to be determined. Do whats best for you.

Being supercharged has nothing to with what type of oil to use....

Make sure you get some supercharger oil though "for" the supercharger.

ive been doin quite a bit of research and im probably gonna go with whatever is easiest for me to get ahold of when im home...I know the supercharger takes its own recommended special oil lol..but I was sure if I would need to use different engine or tranny oil with all the extra power im gonna be throwin at it

Oil is oil. It doesn't care what HP you have..lol
Run synthetic for piece of mind.

The true synthetics are group 4 and 5, not group 3 like Mobil 1. The highest quality group 4 is Amsoil and the highest group 5 ester based is Redline, that I know of. Check Amazon for reviews on Redline gear oiil and tranny oil, they speak for themselves. I'm not sure, but I believe I have heard there is a different weight suggested when running a supercharger. I guess you are going to totally disengage your MDS anyway? Your engine will be working so much harder, and with your MDS off, I can't think of a reason why not run a slightly thicker oil for engine protection. Maybe go up one grade to 5w30 or even 10w30. the problem with the weight oil we use is long term protection, I think the real reason we use it is because of the slightly better gas mileage it gives us. There is no doubt that a heavier oil will protect your engine better when your engine is warm. The only other benefit to running thin oil like we do is it is good for start up protection. But with a super charger, I think the heavier weight will protect better at those higher RPM's.
