I went and got gas at a little **** gas station even though i knew i shouldnt have now im having trouble. I keep getting a code reading cylinder 7 misfire im changing my plugs this week i changed the egr valve over the summer. It doesnt idle rough but if i stomp on it just enough to downshift thats when the check engine light comes on and it kind of bogs down and sounds like a misfire. Anything else that could cause this? i hope its not the fuel filter cause i dont want to drop the tank.

Pulling the plugs from cylinder 7 will help you get a better idea of what is going on. That is where I would start. How many miles are on the plugs you have in there now? Hopefully you just need new plugs. I'm not sure if it's the same with the Rams, but the 2006-2008 Chargers with the 5.7 use copper plugs with a service interval of around 30k miles.

If it started happening after your fill up, it is a possibility it is the gas. You can try putting a fuel additive that removes water from the fuel and topping off at your favorite gas station. The only thing that seems odd is if there was water or something else wrong with the fuel, you would probably get a random or multiple misfire code instead of the cylinder 7 misfire code.

I bet new plugs will solve your problem.

If you find they are fouled with oil, change the intake manifold gaskets as well. I know cylinder 7 was an issue in the LX platform because of oil leaking past the gaskets. I experienced it in my 06 R/T.

Intake manifold gaskets are cheap, 16 bucks for the set of 8 plus the 2 pcv gaskets I think? The job can be done in an hour the manifold is plastic and easy to move around. In my opinion, the new Hemi's are extremely easy to work on compared to the older stuff. Don't let the intake manifold gaskets worry you too much. Focus on getting your spark plugs changed and evaluate what condition the old ones are in first. If you need new gaskets, they are cheap and the job is easy.

ive done intake gaskets on old vehicles i worked in a garage for years but this new stuff is usually a lot tougher and takes longer so much stuff to disconnect and move out of the way and its all covered in plastic so it looks nice. the haynes book says theres like 15 things to disconnect if i have to do it thats a pain in the ass

It's really not as bad as you think. I can take the manifold off my Hemi in less than 30 minutes. Disconnecting everything only takes a few minutes and it is easy to reinstall because of the way everything is routed. There's only a few things to move out of the way because all the wires are bundled nice and neat and move out of the way as a whole. I've had the intake manifold off my Hemi several times for mods. I was surprised how easy it was to remove the first time I had to take it off to replace an MDS solenoid.

Check your valve springs as mine with 66000 miles has 2 broken valve springs on 1 and 3 as just found out today as mine mostly pulls a tandem axle trailer with a mud truck for a play toy
