Not in a habit of reving the motor but did so today cause the guy down the street just purchased a Ram and wanted to hear the exhaust. When revving up past say 1500 rpms, I heard a whine. Almost like a pulley bearing or something, but seemed more internal in the motor. Can't say I've ever noticed it before, but like I said, I don't think I've really ever revved it in park before. Any one else have this whine or am I in trouble. Don't really hear it while driving so much, the intake and exhaust tend to overpower it.

Yep. Just got home from work, about a 45 minute drive. Coolant and oil temps ~200. Trans temp ~105

I would pop the belt off and start it to see if it goes away. If it does, it something on the belt train. If not, its something inside. It should go to the dealer either way. Hopefully its something that always happens so its easy to find.

Some of them have had an issue with the oil pump causing a whine noise, might be your noise.

The truck makes the noise when it is cold and warm. The noise is louder when pressing on the gas pedal

Iv been dealing with the same thing. The dealership though it was a big enough deal to replace the transmission but when that didn't change anything they said it was a normal characteristic of the vehicle

I have always had a noise I describe as a super charger whine as it revs up. Dealer said it was normal. If it's the oil pump I hope it doesn't shorten it's lifespan....

Thats how i would discribe it also. I used a stethoscope and there was almost no sound coming from the oil pan. Sounds like the torque converter though and the sound was strong around the bell housing

I get this same noise as well once engine is warm. I'm glad I found someone else inquiring about this. If I open the drivers door and listen while pressing on the throttle pedal, it will whine as I press the pedal before engine RPM increases. Does sound like a super charger noise. Has anyone narrowed it down to a particular issue? I was going to pull the serpentine belt to see if that made a difference. It seemed to be more near the torque converter than anything.
