The most important thing about a catch can is the sticker! The sticker will net you an additional 20hp at the rear! I wish I had a catch can.

I had one of the cheap catch cams and I took it off because I was loosing oil with it like crazy. With it installed I would be a quart low about every 2000 miles, with the catch can removed I have to add a quart at about 5000 miles. Running full synthetic on a hemi 5.7.
The only way I could even think that the low oil and a catch can could even be remotely related is if somehow the CC choked down the airflow, like with the el cheapo hoses that come with them that you could easily pinch together...then still that would just pressurize the crankcase to blow that oil out somewhere else...like a seal or gasket.

That much oil lost through the PCV system or combustion would throw a blow-by flag. Haven't had to add a drop after refill in 70K miles, always on the top dipstick punch even after 10K mile intervals.

A rather interesting video. Mostly what I see in all the CC pictures/videos in water residue though.

Nope. No separator. PCV pumps lots of nasty milkshake right into your intake manifold.

OBTW that nasty stuff can cause pre-detonation which when detected would induce the PCM to pull timing. That is one of the reasons FCA recommends mid-tier gas over 87 Octane.

But hey, its your $, and your truck.

What could possibly go wrong...go wrong....go wrong...…?
I even use 93 in my weed eater.

I’ll try to remember to get a pic of my CC dump later this summer, but mine only has moisture/looks like a milk shake in the winter when temps are cold. Can’t speak for anyone else, but for me, once summer hits, it’s only oil residue.

Mine is the same way. Though I've only had mine long enough to empty it maybe 5 times so I do not have too much data.

That video was a waste of my time. Just another government liberal who thinks he's funny. And he's not. I'll just keep dumping sludge out of my catch can, and he can believe what ever he wants.

My take on a catch can has always been: It's like an additional air filter.

You can run sludge thru your engine if you're too cheap to do the right thing. Or, you can run clean air and fuel.
