Will be interesting to see how this works out.
This doesn’t mean what many folks Hope it will mean.

Having carefully read thru it, all it actually does is allow the “possibility” that a manufacturer “might” adjust the UQS (urea quality sensor) so that instead of 32.5% DEF being insisted-upon…. That instead DEF as low as 26% urea can still pass requirements….. IF it does not degrade the SCR system.

It also allows for a longer period of time (up to 4 weeks) that the “Limp Mode” is delayed before required repairs.

Significant in this “announcement” is the Bold (kiss A..) self-promotion of two administrators Names (Lee Zeldin and Brooke Rollins) during this period of investigation. (Yes, it’s an investigation…Not an approval to remove… DEF systems.)

It’s politickin’. This is actually Stated in the Third Sentence, where it acknowledges this does not change the law: “The contents of this guidance do not have the force and effect of law and are not meant to bind the public in any way. ” (emphasis mine)

Yup, if the NOx sensors don't detect enough reduction you still have problems. Too many youtube clickbait blowhards totally misrepresenting what is going on.
