Trying to update radio to 40.1 firmware from the usb port so that the maps can be updated. Keep getting Error 20.
UCONNECT customer service is worthless, keeps sending me to a number that hangs up when it answers. Dealer wants to charge me to look at it, but they say it will probably need a new radio (at my expense).
Truck is a 2019 and out of warranty.

Is there a problem your hoping will be fixed with a firmware update? If not it's best to leave the update alone, golden rule of software/firmware updates applies if one problem is fixed usually two more are created.

If you haven't bought the OEM maps, save your money and use AndroidAuto/CarPlay. The maps updated all the time and they have real time traffic data. There's even ways to use those maps "offline" if your in a spotty reception area.

What I think he's saying, is boot loader could be causing the issue.

You could fix it, but you would need resource to do it. All of the models have hard reset on the board. Newer versions they stop putting switch, you need to jump couple pins.

First I would look at getting file again from different source or download it again.

Second I would change USB drive you are using. Try older one and smaller size. Since you didn't post any details.
Can just guess on it. If all you can find are newer ones, get smallest size possible for the file. Use a name brand. Micro/Samsung/etc... You don't want one that claims to be 'high' speed.

Something else you could try, but keep in mind anything you do , could screw it up. As @SitKneelBend mentioned way above, leaving it alone if it's sort of working.
Downgrade to one version lower then install current version, then newer version.

Not sure if you did this yet. But could reset it. It should put all files back and install them as it was new. Then try upgrade.

Do you have details on the jumper and board resets?

The USB drive with the firmware upgrade came from UCONNECT along with the map update
