ESP light periodically coming on.

So recently while driving with cruise control on, my esp light comes on and cruise is disabled but I can't shut it off. However periodically light goes off and all is well but comes back on very random. Any thoughts? I was thinking wheel speed sensor... if so besides scanning at dealer for codes is there a way to find out which wheel it is?
