If you're wondering what's the best way to level your 4x4, or trying to decide if you should get spacers (you shouldn't), the bilstien 5100s are in most cases, the best way to go.

In an effort to minimize new threads every week about the Bilstien 5100s.. Lets make this a safe thread for people to come and ask new questions without being hounded. Post your questions, random knowledge, experience, any issues, height settings, install quotes, etc..

If you're just wanting to take a look at some various trucks with bils installed, numerous tire sizes, and some good overall information...

First off I'm gonna say what a great idea this is, and thanks for posting those part numbers. Hopefully it works out.
I will post my experience with my truck. 2015 CC 4x4, true blue, lonestar package, hemi.
I decided I wanted just a level kit, but read (using search function) on here that spacers usually caused upper ball joints to have issues, and other issues as well. So I decided to buy the bilstein shocks and set them at 2.1, because that was what I read would give me the level only. I was able to do it in 4-5 hours. Only issues I had was I didn't put the washer in right location. Please read directions that come with shocks. I swapped my factory tires with BFG all terrains but kept the size the same. Here is a video that helped me. I didn't use his kicking method. I used heat and a hammer to free upper ball joints

I also included a pic of my truck to show the look I was after. Thanks.

Ok, I have a 14 Laramie QC 4x4.
Ideally, I wanted bils at 2.8 with 1" spacer in the back. However, I do use my truck to haul my wheeler and other stuffs in the bed and when I do this, she squats lower than a lady taking a leak in the woods. Any suggestions on what to do to the rear to hold up 700-800 lbs without a terrible squat? I'm sure rear bils or a spacer isn't going to help. Am I going to need different springs to help this?
Thanks guys!

With just a guess, I don't think springs are a bad idea at all.. But to get a better answer, you should load it up like you normally would, then compare actual measurements with and without.

In an effort to not be chastised for asking a question, I'm asking it here. Please forgive me for taking up any of your precious time in answering.....I received my bilstein 5100's yesterday and quickly found the lack of any instructions in the box. My only question is what are the different height settings in regards to the groove? Meaning top groove equals 2.5, next groove equals 2.1, ect. There are 5 grooves on the cylinder.
Thanks in advance....

This thread is great, you should get a mod to add merge ALL Bil threads into this one.

I would go the airbag route if I were you! Airlift 1000 will have squat with that much weight, not too much but it will. Mine does anyway. I recommend airlift 5000 airbags for that much weight. The truck will sit completely level with whatever you put in the back or tow!

Hey everyone, I'm really considering leveling my truck with the bilstiens but I have a couple questions. First I'm debating what height 2.1 or 2.8. Has anyone had any issues with it set at 2.8? I'v heard of vibrations and if so Is it a constant vibration or just at certain speeds (i.e. High speed low speed), and is it like a tire out of balance feeling or like an uneven road. I plan on keeping the stock tires and rims. Just looking for a little more height in the front. Next I got quoted $644 to install the shock thats including shocks, labor, tax, and alignment. Is that a decent price? Thanks in advance.

I'm @ 2.8 love it , better than stock ride imo , recovers faster .
No vibe or issues at all with mine . I'm on stock wheels & tires . 2014 4x4 QC .
Been installed about 7000 miles now .
I got 2.75 " of lift.
I installed my self , pretty easy 4 out of 10 if your a DIYer .
Must get an alignment.

That price is not terrible for install , shocks and alignment.
Just make sure they put the bilsteins piston washer in the correct location . Lots of shops jack this up !

Hope this helps !

You will be perfectly fine with them at 2.8. Little nose high, probably. The vibration was probably a result of putting the top washer in the wrong place (like I did, but no issues).

The install price is high (IMO)
What shop?

And everything RLK said. He has a good writeup of the install too if you can turn a wrench and change a tire.
