2017 and at this point I'm getting frustrated. First it's warped Rambox lid and the painted cover coming off. After two attempts the dealership wants me to leave it for two to god knows how many days to try and fix it at a body shop. Today I'm washing it and see two of the glued on flares coming off. Really considering being "that guy" at the dealership. To top it off, even if I wanted to just fix it myself I have the Mopar lifetime warranty so anything I do will just be another BS excuse for Fiat/Chrysler to deny coverage due to "modifications" which even the dealerships say they are 100% geared to do. WTF? Trade this thing in and get into something else? Done with the Dodge, well it still runs after everything falls off, justifications.

If you purchased your Power Wagon for its function, then I would get it fixed and keep it, otherwise, if it was for its form (looks), then trade it in.

Where are you from? I know of one other guy that battles never ending problems with his RamBox kids like you describe, I’m pretty sure he lives in SoCal. My guess is that the plastic parts and adhesive tape don’t get along with heat and sun exposure.

I live in Alaska, and while my lids have bowed up a little bit (they all do it a little bit over time), they reached a point and stopped. Here’s mine.

Try adjusting the latch on the rambox, from the pics, it looks like it’s not closing all the way.

So function (at less than 5K and we took all of the eastern off road trails in Big Bend to break her in and we spend a lot of time doing rock parks in TX), but at 50K plus I still expect things that are stuck to the truck to remain stuck and at least so far as the dealerships in Houston go, my other expectation is that if things do unstick it doesn't take 3-4 visits at 2+ days to still have parts that aren't stuck. I have less issues with things falling off my 79' Scout (and the interior is still stock..ish). Not worried about the paint that I've trail rashed or using the bed to actually haul things but it comes back around to reputation. Dodge (or Ram now that they split the business unit) should be doing everything in their power to up the fit and finish of the product. Now I'm one of those guys who is bashing the truck that they looked for for a year on a forum. Think at this point I'm more upset with the incompetence of the dealerships here and the fact that I've been told that Fiat will use any point of modification to a vehicle to reneg on warranty claims.

Can you find another dealership outside of Houston?

The last time I looked in my Power Wagon's rearview mirror while leaving behind some dust near Texline, Texas, it was still a very big state.

Isn't it though? Funny thing about Houston is that from my house to Big Bend is 12 hours so 24 total. It's about 3 total through and out of Houston for that trip. What I guess I need to ask is if anyone has any recommendations on a good dealership around Houston that takes as much pride in after the sale dealings as they do with sales volume numbers. I do have to admit I live in a suburb where it's more likely that customers would rather replace than fix. Should see some of the looks when you show them pictures and videos of your truck actually off road.

Hi scoutpappa,
We understand how these concerns could be frustrating, and would hate for this to be your lasting impression of our trucks. We would like to offer our assistance while you are working with your dealer on this. Please send us a private message with your VIN, current mileage and servicing dealer so we can get started.

Day 3 and no reply. Not thinking it's so nice now. I'm sure if I didn't reply and keep it at the top it would just fade away.

They replied to me saying they could help in a forum and told me to “PM” them. Then, after 3 days, they replied with “have you taken it to the dealer.”

I was like oh, didn’t think to take it to the dealer so they can charge me $200 of labor to look at a switch.

if I understand correctly, the rambox lid isn't lined up perfectly with the bedside and one of the flares has detached a bit from the fender ? in the grand scheme , these are minor cosmetic things that can happen. you payed 50G and want a perfect truck, I get that, but that's just not reality sometimes. if complete 100% flawlessness is what you want, maybe a hand built ferarri is what you need.

unfortunately some dealers are totally incompetent and unwilling to help, so you may have to try a different dealer. its aggravating for sure but sometimes thats just life. I bought two new pw in the last 2yrs and had some minor problems with both. nothing that wasn't fairly easily fixed. most of the minor problems I just fixed myself. it took time from my busy schedule and I was a bit peeved but it is what it is and I moved on with life

the flares are fairly easily removed and new sticky tape installed and put back on the truck. is the dealer unwilling to do such a simple task ? my truck has a real small portion of one flare that has detached but its hardly noticeable and nothing im concearned with right now. someday I may remove it and put some new tape

jumping ship to ford or gm because a ram box isnt perfectly aligned and a flare has partially detached, seems a bit premature but hey its your money, do with it what you want. I can tell you the new fords are plagued with just as many or even worse problems than your ram. death wobble from the get go, leaking cabs, front end problems, 4x4 hubs that don't work right, driveline vibrations.... are just a few of the things you may encounter with your new ford super duty. good luck my friend

Cover coming off. Added tape after 2nd trip to dealership where is spent two days. Came back worse.

Small gap I'm so **** about. This has grown since I brought the truck back. Keep in mind the first box was worse but this one seems hell bent on beating it in the end.

At least the cover is still stuck to the box. I was going to have it replaced for the bow but in dealing with the other side...well let's just say I'm not so sure I want it removed.

All good till they fall off. I live in TX so it's wet where I live quite often. When the truck is wet the tape lets go even further

So I received the message on the third day and have been issued a case number with the note that this has been elevated to a specialist. I'll fill out the list of questions and we'll see what that gets me. If this was just cosmetic I could live with it but the lid is so warped that I can't put things on top as they want to fall off. The bows keep getting bigger which allows water to get in. I'm losing the function part of why I looked so hard for this set up. I have the lifetime Mopar warranty with this truck so as this is my second in 10 years I was looking at this for the next 10+. I really need things to hold up for more than 6 months.

I'm having the same issue on mine. Truck has been in for repair at least five times. The Rambox was completely replaced and looks worse than it did before replacement. Truck is going back in again on the 30th. We'll see how it goes. Really not a big deal, just irritating as Hell.
