exhaust work round 2

So I'm bored...sitting at the same exhaust shop that installed my muffler and removed the resinators getting the magnaflow y pipe and mbrp tips installed. And its only costing 60 bucks...not a bad deal imo...

Alright, so it took about 30 minutes to have done and I'm on my way home, will post pictures when I get home

Forgot I already had this thread when I created the other one while I was having my exhaust done. Well, the y pipe is in and the tips are on.

I didn't take any pictures of the y-pipe but I could go do that if anyone want to see it.

Now all that's left for it to be done to my eye is spraying everything forward of the adapter black so there's no eye sore piping visible. It's irritating me now that I know it's there. Any recommendations on something that'll work good that can hold up to some heat?

can you take a pic of how they welded these on? I'm REALLY wondering if I can get them welded to my existing pipes and still have the quick disconnect that the factories have. (cuz I have 2 sets of those here.......lol)

Looking at this picture, the tips are bolted to the adapters sitting to the right of the tips and the adapters are what get welded to the exhaust pipe. However, when I looked at them when I took those pictures, I noticed they put a little spot weld at the bottom of the adapter and tips so my tips are no longer removable via bolt....

But I'll go out there in a few a snap a few more pictures

Ok so I took some more pictures of the tips and I also snapped a few of the y-pipe. I forgot to mention to that they had to make some adapters of their own to connect the adapters to the pipe because they got a little chop happy or just measured wrong a little, they didn't charge me for the few inches of pipe they used so yea, no big deal.

You can see what I meant by the little spot weld they did to connect the tip and adapter.

One thing I find funny is that the y-pipe changed color...

They went on ahead and welded my adapters on too. The bolt just didn't seem like it would be strong enough to hold and the shop guy said that as it heats up and expands the weld would keep the adapter in place.

What is the advantage of the new Y pipe?

I know there are pics on here somewhere, but I just had a magnaflow Y installed and happen to have a pic...

The inside has greatly improved flow when compared to the two "smashed" together pipes that the stock one has protruding into the tube..

Looks good man, is your spare 35inch too?

No it's not...should get a full size spare though.

What did the shop charge to weld everything in?

70 bucks. Another shop wanted 190...needless to say, they're smoking crack

Oh yea, guess I could say what I think of that y-pipe so far....haha....I can definitely tell a difference between that crappy double smashed pipe and this opened up magnaflow. The engine feels like it isn't putting forth as much effort to maintain steady speeds as it was before which is also double nice because it sounds a little quieter when maintaining a steady speed. As far as sound while accelerating, if you are doing a quick off the line start, it doesn't sound much louder than it was before. But if you are doing steady slow speeds accelerating like from idle to about 30, it's definitely louder then it was before the change. So the results on sound vary, it's quieter in some ways but louder in others and overall, I love it. Combine all the other mods I've done already and this y-pipe is worth every penny. I've yet opened her up for a full sprint yet only because I'm interested to see what kind of mileage I can get now with the y-pipe and efan but I should have opinions on that later, hahaha.
