Exhaust manifold - weird one.

I have done the exhaust manifold replacement on my 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 before and it went again. I found 2 bolts sheered off at the heat shield which is fine, but now I can’t get the clamp tight enough where the manifold connects to the exhaust? The bolts came with the manifold so I presume they are correct, but I don’t remember this being difficult in the past?

Does this have to be tight and any suggestions on getting better leverage to get it tight enough?

Bolts to long.....no threads to pull up any closer?
Measure the bolts on the other side

Looks like the bolts you're using have too much shank and not enough threads. Try different bolts with more threads and less shank.

Tractor supply trip! My local one carries an assortment of the right length and grade of bolts for stuff like this.

Yup you guys are right. Thanks so much! Simple solution and saves me even more headaches. Came with the manifold so I didn’t even think to check.

You could also just added some washers.
Old farmers would use a old larger size nut as a spacer, when town is hour away.
