Yes a window left down would be far worse that snow getting into the bay. Its happened a time or two in my family (drenching thunderstorms can blow up suddenly where I live) and its a real pain to make it right.

So Op, how did this all end up. What was the outcome with the body shop, did they cleanup and detail the engine bay, was the work done well in the end?

I'll post some before/after pics when I get home. End result looked good. Interestingly enough, a 3 month old heavy duty battery went bad within a couple of weeks of getting my truck back. They paid for it when I brought it up. Battery cost was prorated. Sensors didn't seem to be working right at first but after a reset seem to be fine now. I left a positive review on end result but also indicated some lessons were learned because of a customer concern.

Glad it worked out pretty well in the end. Definitely paid off that you got on them, politely, up front. Probably made later dealings a whole bunch easier. You will have to take a cruise by and see if they have started covering other vehicles. :)

In most cases you run an engine after getting wet so it dries faster when motor is warm or hot so less possible damage

Appreciate feedback from everybody. Attached a few shots from the incident that started all this, and the end result. Hit and run in parking lot at work the one time I didn't park up against island/sidewalk. I didn't even realize it at first till I went to make a left turn. Not a huge fan of chrome and went with a painted white bumper replacement. Since the hood had needed to be repainted and I'd held off, figured it was a good time when in shop for front end. Also added after market fog lights that are quite a bit brighter than the stock ones.

Nice choice with the painted bumper. It looks much better than the chrome. Honestly I'm not a huge fan of chrome on the 4th gen trucks. I really hate it on the 5th gen because of those ugly hood badges, but I digress.
