So my 2018 Ram has a factory Pendaliner (I assume it's factory). The front bedrail part of the bedliner doesn't sit flat. Not an issue as is but plan to install a tonneau cover and don't think it will sit flush with that bedliner lifted up. Anyone ever tried to fix this? I was thinking of getting some weatherstrip adhesive and shoot some in there then putting a bunch of weight on it? Maybe heat it with a heat gun to let the plastic form a little easier? Anyone ever done this? My son has the same truck and his is the exact same way so I'm guessing they all are like that, or at least most

I'm not sure who makes the factory liner but my 19 Laramie has the Mopar liner and it is dead flat on the front of the bed. Here is the factory liner in my truck.

You may want to try and pull the liner down using cords and the in-bed hold downs to hold it. My Undercover Armorflex cover sets flat on the liner.

Mine sticks up on the front lip of the bedrail closest ro the back of the cab. The bed side of that front rail sits flat so looking at it from the side of the truck it sits at an angle. If I used a tie down I would probably have to drop it between the bed and cab and tie it down from there. I do have heavy weights we used to use for karting that should hold it down. Just wondering if weatherstrip adhesive is the best stuff to use or if there is something better? I don't want to use anything that might hurt the paint though in case I ever decide to pull that liner for whatever reason

That plastic liner is already hurting your paint.

Those dang things won't lay flat for very long and eventually will scratch the heck out of the bed paint.

Having learned it the hard way I had one pulled from my 2007 MegaCan and told the dealer to pull one from my 2014 as well. I just go with a spray in bedliner now.

That's the first ting I did with past trucks, PULLED the drop in out.
Many years ago I was looking at a truck and it had a drop in, I told dealer to pull it out before I would buy it, they stated they couldn't as it was part of the package for truck.
I said ok thank you, I will go else where to get my truck, they changed there tune then.

Most people now a days want a spray in,

I'm having trouble picturing your issue, possibly a picture would help.

I would not use weatherstrip adhesive on my truck, too much danger of paint damage, unless it was to glue on things like weatherstrip that would keep it hidden.

Pull it then have the bed line x’d, those liners do more harm then good.

I never had a spray in bedliner but wouldn't be opposed to it. Just hard to justify the $$$. I don't haul much and when I do it's usually boxes or gas cans, maybe the occasional Lowes/Home Depot trip. Doubt no liner at all would scratch it up bad.

I'll try to get pics so you can see what I'm talking about.

Here is a pic. Both sides are like this but the middle is pretty flat. Figured shoot a little weatherstrip adhesive under the edges and put a bunch of weight on it until it cures? Any other ideas?

Just think if I put a tonneau cover on it it will be pushed up in the front. I don't think it would clamp the bedliner down and keep it there?

I just put a bed mat in mine. I figured a spray in bed liner doesn't protect the paint, because you'll never see the paint again, it's covered with an impossible to remove different paint. I don't plan on hauling things that will scratch up the sides. If I decide to remove the mat some day, I'll have perfect paint underneath.

I have the same bedliner as you....bought it after I got truck. Mine fits flat....looks like yours was warped before installation. I think heat would be the best possible solution. If the truck is still warranted and the liner came from the dealer....have them fix it or put in a new one. I just added a Leer 700 fiberglass tonneau cover....no problem with them fitting properly. As for these liners hurting your bed paint.....I've had them in other trucks.....when pulled out...scratches were not that big of a problem. I think they protect the bed from dings and dents better than spray in liners. They are definitely less expensive.

Now I see the issue. If it's factory, I would talk to the dealer first. The reason I posted a picture of mine is to show the factory liner as I believe they will say Ram on them. If yours says Pentaliner, I'm pretty sure it's aftermarket.

As suggested above, you could try heating it but with a couple of cautions. Take it out and heat it from the underside not the top, because the olefin plastic it's made from softens close to it melting point and there's not a lot of room for error. Also, if it's upside down you can clamp it to a steel straight edge and use a hand held air blower to heat it giving you more control.

If you chose not to heat it you could cut the lip off use 3M tape to keep the front of the liner against the bed.

If you want to try the adhesion route, I'll discourage the use of weatherstrip adhesive as it's pretty aggressive toward paint. You might try black silicon automotive sealer and keep it clamped/taped down for a while till you get your tonneau, then pull the tape and set the tonneau on it and clamp it down. It should stay down then.

Just a couple thoughts to get you thinking, Good luck.

I thought of cutting the lip off so it stops under the rail but I haven't looked at it that close yet to see how that might work. I have always had bedliners in my other trucks and always bought the underrail just for the reason mentioned of them scratching the paint.

I bought this truck with 8000 miles on it and my son bought his with 6000. Both have the same Pendaliner so I figured they were factory but they might not be.

Have to figure out if I will try to use adhesive to hold it down, cut the top part off completely, or just remove it and leave it out.

That plastic lip is never going to be flat again it was probably molded that way I would just cut the part that is warped or the whole strip and go to home depot and go to the lumber dept and get a piece of oak or something the same thickness in the scrap bin and use that then paint it and use 3M adhesive to hold it to the bed.

I had the same issue with mine on my 07 the tonneau cover will push it down and mine was able to. Bit if you want to also, pull the liner and carefully warm that entire rear bend and work it flat or even a negative bed the other way so it applies slight downward pressure BUT not too much or it will want to lift the liner up from the floor.

It may be just the camera angle, but it looks like it is cocked in on the other side. Maybe a little movement back-and-forth will get it to lay flat

Also the back wall falls short and the weight of the bed liner pulling down make the rear lip go up. Step on the bed liner against the back wall and watch what happens, you will see what im talking about.

I'll have to take a look. Not a big deal as it is but just don't want to have issues with a tonneau cover not fitting right

Looked at it today and looks like you guys might be right. It presses down flat pretty easily but if I lift up on the bedliner it flattens out so seems like the liner is too shallow and pulling down. I think the tonneau cover will hold it flat as easy as it is for me to flatten it by hand
