Hi,

New here and have done some research but haven’t had any luck on getting the factory remote start to work on my truck.

Just picked up the truck. It is a 2015 Ram 3500 Laramie. Looked up the build list and it came with remote start. Only have one key fob currently and it has the remote start button, although it’s worn off.

What I’ve tried. hood closed, all doors closed, doors locked, hit the start button 2x within 5 seconds as per the owners manual. Tried multiple times, with long holds and short hits of the button. And it never starts or makes any indication it’s trying to start.

No CEL on, no hood/door open warnings, and after trying to command start there is no warning on the dash stating command start disabled or anything. Key fob works perfectly fine to lock and unlock the doors.

What might the next step be in trying to get this to work? I just got this truck and have never had it work before so maybe an underlying issue, but not sure what to look for. Thanks in advance.

Full tank at time of testing

Should have added horn doesn’t even chirp with trying the command start.

Pulled the fob apart and nothing out of place internally.

Next step would be to see if there’s a ghost code I suppose.

No problem figured it’s helpful for someone else one day if they have the same issue. It’s always nice knowing what the solution was rather than leaving everyone guessing

Hello from Sask, Glad you got it working, I was going to suggest if you just bought it from a dealer, take it back and tell them they need to fix it
I have posted this before , but my 2014 will about once a year just not do anything, both fobs the same, have to use the key to open the door, then it will start when you use the fob to push the start button.
Then it will work fine till maybe a year later. 2 days ago I had to get right next to the door and then my touch door lock worked. Later everything is fine. I have never changed anything , other then battery's. remote start will not work. the RF hub is not reading the fob I think, the fobs are not the problem I think. But one of these days I may have to dig into it.

When you open the FOB
On the case, the side that has the buttons on it
on the backside of the buttons, there are CONTACTS
some of those Contacts fall off with use
In your case, i would bet that the
Panic , Lock , Unlock were still in place

buy your Remote Start contact had fallen off

IF you have the type of FOB that you insert in the ignition
this is the right video

IF on the other hand, you have a SMART FOB
have you installed LED lights anywhere on the Ram
if so, change them back out

The fobs are OK, I have checked them, they are the smart fob, push button start, touchless doors etc. It is just like the fob is not there. I have 2 factory ones and it makes no difference when it stops working , its the same with both fobs. It happens so seldom I have not dug into it.
A couple of times I have stripped the fobs down and gave them a good cleaning, and check everything. Same with the TV remotes when they get funky.
