Hey guys,

I'm not too huge into the detailing, but I try to keep mine looking like new. One of the things I would like to find/use is a trim shine spray/pump that really glosses up the black trim on my Ram. Something that I can use every other month or so. I came across Griots Garage Tire Shine that is supposed to be used also on trim. It really put a high gloss on the plastic, no doubt. But kinda messy. There's a bunch of products out there that makes the trim look new (and blacker), but I'm also looking for that high gloss. Does anyone know of others that put a high gloss on your exterior plastics? Thanks.

Try Adams Polishes for tires I use VRT (Vinyl, Rubber, Trim & Tires) and H2O Guard & Gloss (Bumper Vinyl) and I use Detail spray on the body after each wash. And Groit's Garage, Ceramic 3 in 1 Wax, once to twice a year.

I thought about this post yesterday when I was washing/waxing the truck. Came to the conclusion that, although a high shine is nice, I now prefer not to use anything unlike my 4th gen. While a fresh shine looks great, after rain and what have you, it seems to run and then dulls the black plastic. You have to do it again and again to maintain what you want. I have owned my 5th gen since November 2019, never used any trim shine and the black trim looks great. Just my 2 cents and something to think of.

At some dealerships they use a grease like product that’s in a large jar it’s sort of like Vaseline but I believe its more in the order of a vegetable glycerine
It lasts through a couple weeks maybe two car washings
After a while I just went to plastic paint colored or clear more prep but worth it because it lasts longer.

I just use the Adam's detail spray on the black plastic trim. I also use it on my hard tri fold tonneau cover and associated rubber trim. Seems to work pretty good.

Did a bunch of research and settled on Car Guys Plastic restorer. Sold by Amazon only, but they don't even list it. Any ideas, anyone?

Just had my bumpers wrapped and it looks great except for the grey stripes from the OEM plastic.

My votes going for gtechniq C4 as a base and 1-2 weeks later start using adams VRT. If you do VRT in the heat you may want to use 2 coats after the first one soaks in.

Found some online testing where the Cerakote and gtechniq weathered better than most others.

Both Meguiar's Hyper Dressing and 303 protectant are very popular. Meguiar's is also releasing a new ceramic trim this year, should already be available.

A couple of products I've had great success with in keeping the black trim dark and healthy..not drying out & getting chalky looking. Both are sealants and both are wipe on/wipe off.
