Not feeling very well cared for after waiting over four months to be reimbursed for parts & labor to remove and replace failed crankshaft position sensor and tone/reflector wheel that is supposed to be fully covered by the AEM 40k extended emission warranty. Failure occurred while on an extended road trip from California to South Dakota. The repair was done by independent service center in Fort Collins, CO after being unable to get appointment at local Ram dealership for 7 days (this was going into the July 4 weekend). FCA finally sent reimbursement of $486.66 to "cover" a $1,662.16 payment. Have tried unsuccessfully twice to speak with claims agent, manager or supervisor; assurances that someone will contact me within 1 business day have not been met.

Anyone have a recommendation on how/where to push this up the line for satisfactory resolution? Thx.

Hopefully I’m wrong but it sounds to me like you my need legal representation, if that even helps. I get it that you were traveling out of town when you had your breakdown but did FCA tell you to take your truck to an outside service center? That sucks that you would’ve had to wait a full week to get your truck into a dealer while being out of town but warranty typically doesn’t cover someone else’s work unless prior engagements are made.

Welcome to the forum. There is a Ram rep that monitors this site. Maybe they will chime in. I don't know.

welcome, maybe you are getting reimbursed for parts and not the labor since the work was done at an independent shop?

That is the final response I received from them after finally getting someone's attention. The long wait period to get into the dealership is irrelevant no matter my personal circumstances, and they are unwilling to budge.

We understand that but did FCA give you approval to take your truck to an outside shop? If not, you’re probably best to feel lucky you got what you got. Unless there’s special arrangements made, warranty’s only gonna cover work done at a dealer shop.

I think my question would be why did they reimburse SOME but not ALL?

If it was an issue with using an independent shop, I figure the reimbursed amount would be zero.

My guess would be is that maybe they just felt like a one-time partial reimbursement would suffice outta good faith for the fact that he was told he’d have to wait a whole week before he could even bring it in. It’s not as bad for someone who loves close by where they’re gonna be taking it but when you’re outta town, they can’t expect you to be ok with renting a hotel room for that long of time waiting for your vehicle to get looked at.

Hello.

the tone wheel just failed on my Ecodiesel too and Im being quotes a price of over 1500$ for the repair to my 2wd truck. The dealer said it should be recalled the start of 2021 as they know its a common failure and there is new software coming that uses the camshaft position sensor as a backup... when will the recall and software be released

has a better tone wheel been designed as it would suck to have to do this repair a secind time in a couple of years

Hello.

just received notice that the tone wheel is completely backordered and not expected till the beginning of December. Is FCA designing an improved part or is this the same design wheel that fails

Dealing with FCA at this very moment to try and address my 2019 Ram 2500 12" infotainment center lockup issues. It would be nice if FCA had people working for them that spoke and fluently understood English. Sounds like FCA customer service is somewhere in India. I am very doubtful that this will end well without getting legal support.
