ANytime man. SO what are you going to do about sealing the filter from the engine compartment?

BTW check sig :naughty:

In theory I'm going to be snagging a sheet of metal from work and bending/cutting it into a heat shield and grille scoop. :naughty:

Dont have any yet. Lol. 1500 because I wanted something I could use as a reliable daily driver. Not planning on lifting or bigger tires or anything for it. Ill get a 2500 for an offroad toy at some point down the road.

^Or so you think. :hidesbehindsofa:
You'll change your tune once you start lurking in the 4g section more.

Well....all progress is really getting put off til mid next week. Can't mount the air hat because it needs trimming and I don't have the Dremel here. So I'll bore the TB at work and bring the Dremel home.

Alright, so I got the TB about 80-85% done this past weekend....

So what I started with:

First I drilled the screw out.....
100_6493_zpse4c0fb7e.jpg
bit started moving around too much, so I just drilled the hole thing out. I need a tap now. lol

What I ended up with after that
100_6494_zps5005aa22.jpg

Started cutting the air horns. I cut them down halfway to keep myself from destroying my cutting wheel and/or myself

100_6496_zpsd952ebc1.jpg

Hard to see but all ground down now

Tried taking a grinding wheel to remove the casting burs. Looked nice on the one small spot I tested it on....didn't look so great on the rest of it. Oh well. lol

The air horns :roflsquared:

Soooo this weekend I'll be taking my hone and will be boring it out.

Brought the Dremel home this weekend and will be modding the air hat to be mounted.

I had been on the fence with that. Still might lop more off it. Main thing that concerns me is the air cleaner stud mount getting buggered up.

You may be able to smooth the top of the tb with some medium grit sand paper, should look a little more uniform if that was what you were trying to do. For small areas I usually wrap some sand paper around a pointed triangle file and gently work the surface.

What grit should I use? 200, 250, 300?

When in doubt start with a higher number (300), if it isn't cutting as much as you want go lower (150). Being that it is aluminum, harsh sand paper will likely do more harm than good (plus aluminum tends to cake sandpaper up). I would probably use 300, maybe even 400 to start. Keep in mind your just trying to clean the surface, not remove material. (That is your goal right?) :superhack:

The original goal was to remove enough material to smooth it out...and that mostly worked, but it made those waves you see.
i would probably use a rotary file to clean off a bit more material

Material off what?
