As DD said if staying at 50mm you can use the originally plates, but if going to 52mm, you can get plates from Summit... I'll have to find the link and post it up at a later time...

Good job so far DD.... Did you use a standard bit or.a titanium one to get the broken screw out?

Thanks! I used a Kobalt 3/32 titanium coated bit to drill it out. Need a tap now though....have you attempted drilling yours yet?

Haven't even touched mine again, bud. I did get some titanium bits though. I hope to mess with mine later this week or the weekend. Work has me working nights this week and my body isn't accustomed, so I don't expect to get much productivity out of myself this week.

The 52mm plates can be purchased here.

Don't quote me, but from what I understand they are officially 51.75mm, instead of exactly 52mm. I also think, but again don't quote me, that Fastman uses the same size plates in his 52mm TB. The only thing about these plates is I believe that one of the holes will need to be elongated some to fit properly.

I thought that might be the case. I'll be working on mine again this weekend, hopefully I'll get it mostly done and ready for tapping.

Sounds about right. I believe it's the same with the 50mm....they're just a hair under it.

I got Kobalt from Lowes. Ripped through them like butter. What size are you using? I used 3/32.

The ones that I broke, I tried 1/16, 5/64 and 3/32.... I got dewalt 3/32 today, lowes was out of kobalt that size and I didn't feel like buying a full set just for this project.... It's working but not very quickly

Please don't use reg oil for this all its doing is its job (lubing) and not letting the bit bite into the metal.
