2017 5.7 with 2000 miles. First big tow job in a couple days. Just did the first (breakin) oil change. Anything else I should do prior?

What kind of pull are you talking about?

Check tire pressure...

consider rear air bags if sag is significant

Thanks. Tires are good. Winter conditions; 4 place sled trailer; 4 sleds; 4 riders w/gear for a weekend; 400 miles round trip.

Not huge for some but big for me.

Just my two cents, but I would check the air in the tires, check the oil, check the coolant and just go for it. My 98 ram 1500 5.9 is already to go all the time. Just begging to get out and run. bought it as a demonstrator in 2000 and have just 100k on it. Its sole purpose is to pull a camp trailer, and does a great job. may not have all the bells and whistles but works for me....Enjoy....

Just sold my 98 5.9 to get this. Loved that truck and it would haul. First time pulling with this Hemi.

Neighbor kid loves my old truck.

If you've already changed the oil, great!

Check the air in the tires, make sure your loaded weight isn't too far forward, check your trailer lights, check the trailer tire air pressure and you should be good to go.

Grease up that ball!

Why did you change the oil so early?

Before I ever do any longer trips & pulling I always make sure I have good oil in it (which you have already done), make sure I have a good spare tire for the trailer, make sure the trailer bearings have plenty of good grease, & make sure my air filter is clean. Sometimes this time of year they like to suck a lot of salt from the road. Oh I about forgot, I am kind of **** about making sure all of my trailer lights work before I leave.

Some people like to do the first oil change early to get all of the break in metal out of the system.

This. Will switch to syn at 5000.

Likewise. All of the above done. I'm new to the Hemi. Just wondering if I needed to know anything different.

Trip went well for the truck but the sled is broke. Clutch work this week. Thanks for the replies.

This sounds to be your first time hauling / towing with the better but softer coil suspension. If the trailer is below 5k you should not need a WDH and there will be plenty of power. But with the trailer plus a bed load and a cab load of guys.. well you would likely benefit from the simple addition of air bags, such as Timbergrove, Timbrens rubber bump stops, or Sumu neoprene springs. Lots of choices.

Otherwise you may have the rear of the truck sagging & maybe even have your headlights in the eyes of oncoming traffics eyes. It would suck to have your brand new truck sagging like an overloaded car with your buddies ribbing you that you should have bought a Ford or Chevy.
