I don't know about the Tradesman or Express models, but the Big Horns come with a plastic hook that fastens into the floor.
A hook sticks up so that you can hook the floor mats onto them
..................................................................
I tried the Mopar front floor mats on my 2009 Ram 1500, it had the full floor console, so the mats were 2 piece
When i had about 40,000 miles on the truck, i had to toss the drivers floor mat, my right heel had worn all the way through the rubber.
Before you say it, it was not hard heel shoes that i wear or wore back then. They are what is called Cross Trekkers.
I replaced the Mopar mats with Weathertechs, back then Ram only came with a single hook on the drivers side to hold the floor mat in place
I sold that 2009 with 144,000 miles on it & it still had the Weathertech mats in it.
Currently i have a 2016 Ram, it has 2 hooks on the drivers side
I bought Weathertechs for it as soon as i had made it ready to be my daily driver, it now has 65,000 miles on it
By the way, those mats hooks can be replaced if broken
I believe that there are a couple different types
The type below is for use if you have carpet
