I'm evaluating whether to do a body lift or not. Have read all the threads, and curious to hear some feed back on those who had to "give up the ability" to have tow hooks. Do you wish you still had the hooks etc?

I have a Maxtrac 4.5/3 lift, and the idea of another 1.5" has been bouncing around and would be nice.... but at a cost of giving up the tow hooks. Ive not had the need for them yet, but if there was a way to retain them, I'm all for it.

If the hooks must go, then consideration of a 1.5" or going to 3" comes into play.

It never ends :waytogo:

By tow hooks you mean the two factory hooks that some Rams have sticking out of the front bumper? I believe those tie into the frame rails underneath the bumper supports, yeah?

If you use the bumper relocation brackets, you will have to either remove the tow hooks or cut new slots for the hooks 1.5" or 3" lower in the bumper.

You can also not use the relocation brackets and keep the tow hooks if you dont mind a 1.5-3" gap between the bumper and body.

There is always the option of aftermarket tow hooks and recovery points as well. :)

Yes, I'm referring to the factory tow hooks which connect to the front frame rails.

Not using the relocation bracket would certainly change the appearance and body lines. If I go the BL route, I would raise the bumper to maintain the intended appearance.

That's why I'm curious to see what others here may have done, or a work around that they have employed. I know an after market bumper could solve that, but then I'm not retaining an OEM front end so to say.

Now we're talking :waytogo::waytogo:

If you don't mind, could you share how they are attached to the frame?

What lift / BL are you running?

Thanks.

Thanks for the info and responding :waytogo:
