I had a 2006 Ford F-150 (144,000 miles) with the 4.2 V6. Single cab with a bench seat, 6 1/2 ft bed, RWD, you get the picture. I traded it in for my (new) 2014 1500 Lonestar (45,000 miles) and I couldn't be happier. It has the 5.7 with 3.92 gearing, 5 1/2 ft bed, RWD, Alpine sound system, 8.4 screen, etc. I was looking at a 2013 Ford F-150 Lariat before I purchased my Ram, and it had the 5.0, 4.10 gearing (I think, it was whichever was highest), 4WD with locking differentials, leather seats with heated/cooled options, Ford's premium sound system, moon roof, etc. I just couldn't pull the trigger on it because of the awful SYNC screen and how behind it was technology-wise. You get more bang for your buck with a Ram and at a cheaper cost. My old Ford and the newer one I test drove both felt really light due to the leaf springs in the back, and I wasn't the biggest fan of it. When I test drove my Ram, I fell in love with the coil springs in the back, along with the extra sway bar really makes the ride smoother then any other pickup on the market. Test drive both, see what you think. Personally I can never buy a Ford any time soon again because of the Aluminum body, and the Auto Start/Stop feature.
