I hope for your sake you're right! I don't see too many people moving to sunny Ohio for the awesome weather but I had enough of the people moving to sunny South Carolina for the weather about those same 20 years ago!

I drove nothing but Ford vehicle from the day I got my drivers lic. when I was 16. I traded in an 1995 F250 Lariat xlt. with a 460 cid. I had almost 290k on it. It was a good truck. I drove every Hevy /duty pick Up I could test drive. I got more song and dance from every dealer in San Diego County. I went on line and built a GMC and a Ford I did this on a Saturday night at almost midnight. Sunday morning my phone was ringing off the hook and my inbox almost had a melt down from dealers calling and e-mailing.
I got a call on my cellphone from one dealer he left his name and his cellphone said that he saw my inquiry and if he could help I could call him back. He never called again. About a week went by and I finally called him. He was the only honest dealer that i talked to.
I bought a 2016 Ram 2500 Laramie 4x2 cc/lb il-6, 6.7L CTD I love it. Best truck I have ever owned. You will get a lot of bang for your buck.

Yes, it helps with MPG on the highway, but can hurt it slightly in town if you like to push the skinny peddle a bit too much between stops/lights (compared to 3.55 or 3.92 gears).

I do not know what you occasionally tow, but 3.21 can also hurt your towing a bit compared to 3.55 or 3.92, so be aware of that.
According to the Ram site, 3.21 geared V6 quad cab 4x4 can tow a maxium of 4,440 lbs.
3.55 gears would up that to 7,490 lbs.

Personally, now that I've had it, I'd never consider anything except 3.92 gears. However, to each their own.

Yup, I hear ya there about the axle ratio.
my 2015 Ram has the 3.21 axle.

When I bought the truck, never even entered my head about axle ratio. I was just excited to be buying my first brand new vehicle.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my truck, and it's been dead on reliable. As was my 2006 I traded in on it. But had I even remotely given any thought to axle ratio, I would NOT have gone with the 3.21 axle.

Man it's really too bad you didn't come on here first and ask what's what with these trucks. Whenever somebody does, gear ratio always gets brought up.

OHHHHHHH the irony..

In the last 15 years, I've owned 2 Dodge Rams (a 99 and a 2002), an F-150, and a Silverado. Woudn't buy a Chevy again. F-150 wasn't bad, but I like the "truck" feeling when I drive a Ram. Currently have a 2016 Big Horn, and absolutely love the way it rides and drives.

One word if you are thinking of moving from something to a Ram, don’t! Stay where you are you will be happier.

My neighbor who has to always tell me about his 500hp tuned eco boost and how amazing it is. Had it towed two days ago as it wouldn't start. Has a Ram sitting in his driveway right now that I'm assuming he's borrowing while its broke. Find it quite entertaining.

Finally back in a Ram, compared to the 2010 F-150 I had a couple years ago the Ram is way nicer to drive.

The Ford felt like driving a barge, it wasn't fun at all, so not fun that I went from a string of 4x4 vehicles to a mazdaspeed 3 after having it less than 2 years to get back the go-kart handing of my 2dr JK I traded in on the F150 lol

Matt first welcome to the group ! I have the 2015 4x4 XLT Quad Cab with the Pentastar and 3:21 rear ! It works good enough for me :) My RAM is basically a street queen! I avg, 21/22 around town and 23/24 mpg highway with Summer gas, 1 to 2 mpg less with winter gas. One of the guys at work picked on a 2014 RAM 1500 with the Hemi and if he stay light on the gas he is averaging 18/19 MPG . not sure his gears ! My RAM rides more like a car then a truck . My F150 rode like a truck, Good but not as car like ! FORD'S and RAM'S are both great trucks, all depends on your wants and needs!

I have the same truck in a 2WD Express and like others I have said I can't believe how nice the ride is for a truck. I have no need for 4x4 but did need the longer bed do went for the Quad Cab. Got it used with 30k miles for $20 so lots room for mods! By the time I am done it will probably end up being an ExHornamie lol!

Not to mention how great the body design of the 4th gen Ram trucks are... just looks amazing. Plus, I still feel like I'm driving a truck... the others have an odd car-like feel to them now (and I don't mean super-smooth), especially the F-150.

I had a 2006 Ford F-150 (144,000 miles) with the 4.2 V6. Single cab with a bench seat, 6 1/2 ft bed, RWD, you get the picture. I traded it in for my (new) 2014 1500 Lonestar (45,000 miles) and I couldn't be happier. It has the 5.7 with 3.92 gearing, 5 1/2 ft bed, RWD, Alpine sound system, 8.4 screen, etc. I was looking at a 2013 Ford F-150 Lariat before I purchased my Ram, and it had the 5.0, 4.10 gearing (I think, it was whichever was highest), 4WD with locking differentials, leather seats with heated/cooled options, Ford's premium sound system, moon roof, etc. I just couldn't pull the trigger on it because of the awful SYNC screen and how behind it was technology-wise. You get more bang for your buck with a Ram and at a cheaper cost. My old Ford and the newer one I test drove both felt really light due to the leaf springs in the back, and I wasn't the biggest fan of it. When I test drove my Ram, I fell in love with the coil springs in the back, along with the extra sway bar really makes the ride smoother then any other pickup on the market. Test drive both, see what you think. Personally I can never buy a Ford any time soon again because of the Aluminum body, and the Auto Start/Stop feature.

Ignore what I said, there was no issue with my Ram. The fault was mine. Trucks are great, get one and you will be happy!!!
