My personal opinion, good tires did more for me than fixing my limited slip diff. If you're going to spend aprox $300 on a LS diff, why not just bump it up to $600 and get yourself an eaton locker that will do wonders in the snow.
I was looking at the eaton true trac

Got the rear axle taken apart. Don't know if I'm going any further than this.ac4d3fbf39101a4b8f03d08ee3c6db4e.jpgabe43654695b7bcc0e1f993477f7cf61.jpg2ae705ddf744a4eeb3cb9180b90909b7.jpg371ea4a4a7874fd51874e007e5ea8a87.jpg

Yeah, planning on doing the seals in both axles once they come in. I'll get as many pics as I can

Made a small amount of progress the other day and disconnected the axle from the springs. ac5abc5c661db0c5d0509dd01717bdb2.jpgfe70b0eae0a73eef48df463e04d57792.jpg

Springs are off, only had to cut 3 bolts. Just need to remove a couple of snapped bolts and finish sanding the rest of the frame and it'll be ready for paint.4e2a978ea60c23044f33fa41b91d1760.jpg

The pile of parts is growing. Finishing up sanding and hoping to paint the frame on Thursday.8eb483b74a25062f008af76cc736038b.jpgdee838bfe0aad62fc9cc3221c6c99a10.jpgd6d5539f197c63e83201127051e4b25e.jpg

Pulled the seals out of the rear and installed the new ones. The factory seals had a lip that covered the end of the axle tube. I tapped that lip down with a screwdriver and hammer to loosen it up and then I was able to take a pry bar and easily remove it.

Also installed the backing plates and axle shafts. Once the leaf spring bushings arrive I'll be able to hang the axle back up and get it back on it's wheels.548bb7939c5e900979057a35f109753e.jpg8aeff5a976ea26c89f533b0c4e7f27ab.jpg2aefa9f6c27d545bbbac5d27cb439386.jpgab60a79cce0edaecfec29387a29a10d9.jpgf9ae298ba44714a62cf3a5346c32f9ec.jpgad8fb6806fdf6c980711c234d5b3fdf6.jpg

Looking good. I can't wait to see it all back together. You should look into doing a shackle flip to soften the ride up in the rear. When I do mine I'm going to do one. I believe DOR is supposed to be one of the better ones

I had thought about it but don't have the extra money at the moment.

Did you replace the wheel bearings while you had the seals off? It take about 5 seconds to pull out the old bearings using a slide hammer. Good idea to replace the bearings since the operation is the same, just for piece of mind.

I did not but there is no play in the axles and there was hardly any wear on the shafts.
