I'm in the middle of rebuilding my front brake caliper. I have the pistons out but am having trouble taking out some sort of retaining ring(solid) that seals the boot in, any help is appreciated.

Yes these are the original. I had no problems rebuilding the rear onesThanks for the update. Just out of curiosity, is that the first time it's been replaced ?
At least you triedWell i got the dust boot cover out. The steel ring that i thought was holding the seal turns out to be a machined ring between the oil seal ring and where the dust boot goes on. The bad news is that the seal kit that was supposed to fit was totally different. a quick google shows that same kit at rock auto. CARLSON 41292. Ill post pics in a bit. So now i gotta spend the big$ and buy the caliper as its out and dismantled.
