Yeah probably the same company that makes the “honda” and “mopar” oil.The Owner's Manual says to use "MOPAR GL-5 Synthetic Axle Lubricant SAE 75W85".
The MOPAR part is irrelevant, GL-5 and the weight is what is important so you are good to go. Free is good.
I just did mine with Redline 75w90 GL-5.
Like grizzstang said, GL-5 and correct weight is what’s important, not the name on the bottle. If you’re worried about the quality, change it more often. I try to change at 30K intervals myself.Yeah probably the same company that makes the “honda” and “mopar” oil.
I figured it shouldnt be a problem. I rather ask and be safe. Couple $$ for the right oil vs a $$$$$ for a new diff cause i used the wrong oil lol.
Quality isn't a problem. Ive seen that oil do 100000km (70000 miles) and not change color.Like grizzstang said, GL-5 and correct weight is what’s important, not the name on the bottle. If you’re worried about the quality, change it more often. I try to change at 30K intervals myself.
It's never a bad idea to change the driveline fluids early, including the transfer case.Quality isn't a problem. Ive seen that oil do 100000km (70000 miles) and not change color.
Should the rear diff be replaced at 30k as well ???
All of my 2500 and 3500 trucks suggest a 30K rear differential oil change. I believe it also suggests oil and filter change at 4K for severe duty, which I am. As the vehicle ages, and I frequently go over 250K miles, I do some 3k mile oil change intervals. Front differential doesn't turn like the rear unless specifically engaged, so I guess you could go a little longer. The transfer case is always turning so I would do that on a shorter interval like Wild One suggested.Quality isn't a problem. Ive seen that oil do 100000km (70000 miles) and not change color.

Diffs and Brake fluid are two items that get the poorest maintenance. If not replaced it should be inspected because you have breather lines that can have moisture intrusion. Many times someone will change diff fluid and it will have that milkshake look. Take a little out of top hole and smell it and put it in clear glass if you don't feel like changing it.Quality isn't a problem. Ive seen that oil do 100000km (70000 miles) and not change color.

Oh i know. I do this as a trade. Expect i work at a honda dealer.Diffs and Brake fluid are two items that get the poorest maintenance. My rear diff has been much dirtier when I've changed it compared to the front, especially if you have limited slip on a 1500. Those are supposed to get friction modifier though so double check if the honda fluid has that if you use it in the rear diff.Quality isn't a problem. 3k mile oil changes with synthetic? That's throwing money away. All of my 2500 and 3500 trucks suggest a 30K rear differential oil change. Like I said, my trucks are alway loaded, maybe overloaded sometimes. They never get a break. i also, never ever opened up an engine and when I get rid of the trucks its generally because of rust, not because they become oil pumpers.3k mile oil changes with synthetic? That's throwing money away.
