Got a 2021 75A with 22k. At 20k front diff was grinding. Took to the dealer and was told it needed new gear set and bearings. Got it back and now 2k later same ordeal again and now being told ring and pinion is bad and no eta on parts. Anyone else running into this

I'd wager to guess that this is an isolated problem. Did they give a reason for the failure? Fluid contamination? Level and condition of fluid? Bearing failed and caused ring and pinion damage? They usually just don't "go bad".

99.9% it wasnt in the gearset at all. but rather the cad motor was malfunction (from a bad engage command) which ment the fork is trying to slide the collar over opposite rotating shafts.
unfortunatly your dealer most likely is incompetant to realize what really happened. and bless your heart , didnt know any better either

perhaps you didn’t know …but…”bless your heart” is not a blessing at-all….it’s a derogatory insult. ;)

If the previous repair was not all-inclusive…then it was improperly diagnosed because it failed to cure the defect. They should warranty that previous repair. (Unfortunately, such repairs usually carry a ridiculously-short warranty-period.)

nobody said the dealers incompetance is justified and can be brushed aside. they must be held accountable for their botched repair attempt.
classic example why nobody but me touches my vehicles. and i get it , not everyone is able to diagnose or repair a vehicle. but maybe alittle investigative research before going to the dealer may have educated op about what the problem was. rather than putting full confidence in the dealers hand.
based on the very very few details we know ( grinding type noise in the front ) the dealer most likely changed the gearset for no reason then muffed the install on the second gearset (maybe) , again we have very little to go on. at this point its a complete disaster. unfortunaly i hate hearing these kind of stories

Took to the dealer

That was your first mistake unfortunatly.

Gear jobs need to be done by actual shop that specializes in them. not some grease monkey parts changer at a dealer.

Or some random Redneck in his backyard like myself ;).

thats the thing. it may not of needed gears in the first place ( im betting it didnt). but until op returns with much more info we can only guess. traveling down the road and suddenly a grinding noise appears , thats not the gears as theyre idle.

Agree with Jerry. On the initial failure it was only when turning sharply and going very slow. I spoke with the dealer and was told if dropped the oil or anything warranty was voil. Im more than capable of fixing it what ever it may have been but did want to shell out the money when it should be covered.

Agreed except unfortunately they are the only dealership for 200 miles. Tried to talk to them in person this morning and the tech and service manager are both "out for the day"

The first thing I will say is that it would be very unusual for the front diff or gears to go out at 22k. That is based on most trucks spending the majority of time in 2wd and therefore no wear, stress, or strain occurring on those parts. Also the turning and going very slowly typically doesn't go along with those components having issues. In any case: they simply didn't fix the problem the first time and it's more of a coincidence that the noise or issues stopped for 2,000 miles. The other option, assuming the parts they replaced were the original issue, is that they didn't install them correctly. Based on the first post, they are saying what failed again is the same thing they replaced.......usually assume the "gear set" and the "ring and pinion" are the same thing.

for future reference youll get better help alot sooner if you provide every detail you can think of. it might require alot of typing but thats whats needed if you want the best possible answers.
if you saw the work order and it says they replaced ring and pinion i just cant imagine why they would have done that. assuming the noise happens in 2wd (another detail you didnt provide) theres like zero chance the gears would be to blame
