Howdy,
Read through these, so many nice ones out there. I live in big time deer country and need a front end guard. Buddy hit a deer and hooves punctured trans oil cooler, fried tranny. Oops.
2017 Ram 2500 Crew Cab
- Heavy Duty Deer Guard
- I have front proximity sensors
- I do not use, nor need a winch
- I have the 2 tow hooks, but have never used these in the past
Do any of you have thoughts about what would work best for this application?
- Brand
- Model
- Cusom
Thankyou.

#1, I put the powdercoated gloss black on my '09 Ram 1500. Killed 2 deer with it at considerable speed. No damage to the bar. Had to remove deer hair from the R F tire bead. I guess he spun around & slapped the wheel reeeeeaaaalll hard.
Bar cost $650. 1-year guaranty. Not used.
No damage to speak of. Slight dent under p/s front door that nobody saw until I pointed it out.
#2, on my 2500 I opted for the same bar but chose their flat black armor coating that's guaranteed 3 yrs. Glad I did. Highway sandstorms have no affect. I've bagged 4 deer with this one. No damage other than a 1" smudge to the bar. Similar sized dent to p/s rear rocker panel. Not worth fixing since even I have to look to point it out to people.
Bar cost $969. 3-year guaranty. Not used.
NO damage to hoods, fenders, grilles, bumpers, doors, glass, drivetrain or undercarriage. The only minor damage is to the rocker panel below a door on passenger side.
I edited this post to add a few pics of the side. You find the damage. Acceptable to me. Just imagine the front end damage $$$$ would have occurred. I LOVE this bar!
#1- Powder coated bar on my maroon '09 & pre-assembled, in my garage.
#2- Armor coat on my white '10 2500 with other shots showing the 3 bolts on each of the two uprights. I replaced them with stainless steel. Originals did rust. These must be removed to take the bar off. They are very easy to get to. I've done this several times by myself. Bar weighs about 110 pounds. Weight is not noticed on my 2500.
NOTES:
-- If you wish to retain the tow hooks, (I did) you will need longer bolts.
-- Mounting brackets for this bar bolt directly to the frame. No moifications needed.
-- If, after installation, you need to remove the bar, you only remove the six nuts/washers/bolts holding it to the mounting bracket. Takes me 5 minutes once tools and impact gun are out.
-- Other white Ram pic is NOT my truck. It is in Australia. I would love to know if THAT MASSIVE SWEET BAR is available! If you know anything at all, please let me know!
-- Sorry, no other pics of '09 1500 exist
