I just replaced the hub bearing on my 06 Dodge Mega Cab 4x4 1500. After I replaced it, it is still making the same noise as before. Could it be a bad bearing?

I recently changed mine also and I could easily tell the bearing was bad by turning it in my hands. Maybe remove the wheel and turn the hub and see if it feels rough. I've been chasing a slight whining sounds and will be changing the rear axle bearings next.

How are your tires? I chased a bearing noise that ended up being a tire that had an odd wear pattern. Try rotating your tires to see if the noise moves.

what this guy said

move that tire to the other side and see if the noise follows and then move it to the rear and see if it dissipates to any degree as there will be less transmission back through to the steering wheel that often accompanies a bad hub

tires that have been run a little out of alignment or out of balance can develop an odd wear pattern that can set up some weird vibrations back through the steering gear

I fully understand how frustrating chasing a whine can be. Changed the rear axle bearing/seals this morning and still had a whine 60-65 mph, then it went away. Comes and goes. The hunt continues...

What noise is it making? Crunching, whining, or clicking.

Chances of a new bearing being bad from the start is pretty slim. Unless it was installed incorrectly.

The hubs are generally sold as an assembly so it's a simple bolt up. When mine was bad it had a bit of a rumble to it. OBTW, found the elusive whine. Turned out I had too much torque on the pinion bearing. The crush collar I had was a beast and wouldn't crush within normal spec. Retorqued to 210 and all is good.

I've replaced them both on my 05' SLT multiple times. They can be installed incorrectly.
