I picked up a 06 1500 MC recently. I'm noticing when I fill the truck up at 1/2 tank i get about 12 gallons to full. Filling at just over 1/4 tank i'll get about 17 gallons to full. I pulled the build configuration and the sales code is NFUS; 34 gallon tank. What are the chances the tank has been swapped? I've never looked into it but is there a way to look and tell between the 24 and 34

My gas tank has a identification sticker on it. As long as it’s readable that should tell you.

I looked today. It's definitely 34 gallons. I noticed a square cut in the bed floor under the liner.. Fuel pump has been replaced.. That's good. Any chance it's a pump for a 24 gallon tank?

I've got a fuel pump from a 09 34 gallon 2500 gas truck. Same sales codes. Will pull mine soon to see what the difference is

What's more likely is that these tanks have a built in about 6 gallon reserve (because people are dumb) that really isn't part of the measuring system, so from what I've seen you'd only register about 28gal unless you ran it to 'E' then kept going for awhile.

Same with my old girl, it’s a 26g tank but can only get 20gal in when on empty. The reserve is a good idea cause there’s a **** load of ******* out there!

Her; O’ I didn’t notice the light was on for 50 miles, Me; well good thing there’s a reserve huh! And don’t ever let it go below 1/8 woman! She f’en hates when I call her that lol.

Yea that's what it is. I pulled it out and looked the same as the other one I had. At 1/8 tank it had at least 1/4 left

It's funny, my Ram will show DTE right down to zero, but on my LX's it gets far enough down and just puts a big gas pump symbol in the EVIC with "LOW FUEL" lol
