I'm hoping this is just a "one time thing" but my fuel gauge showed me at just under quarter tank, and around 80mi range left so stopped and filled it. However, the pump stopped at 13 gallons, would not let me put more in....thought that maybe something was up with the pump, so checked the fuel gauge in the truck and it was showing full!
So, hoping that this was just a one time glitch! Has anyone seen this before?
Thanks!
mazer

This is a 2018 PW had it a month and 3rd or 4th tank of gas. Truck has around 1800 miles on it

No, never in my 2016 Power Wagon.

I do have a concern though about my Power Wagon currently not showing a full tank of gas, but more like closer to empty. For a small handling charge, I could siphon off the majority of your gas into my tank and into some of my 5 gallon gas cans. You could then check for a reoccurrence of your gauge showing too low. Also, we could check my gauge to see if it shows full like yours did once it's topped off.

Well, interesting idea! But you are kind of far away! :) Guess I won't go very far and stay on the road for a bit "just in case" and see what happens on the next fill.

It sounds like your fuel sending unit may have an intermittent issue. Good luck with the next fill.

Never a full showing issue with my 17' but I can tell you that dead "E" on the gauge and less than 0 on the DTE still means I have +/- 5 gallons in the tank. I have never managed more than 26 ish gallons on a fill up.

I have the same issue as well, and happens all the time just never had time to set up an appt. My power wagon is only three months old.

Same with mine. It's probably fuel left available in order to cool the fuel pump. A correct gas gauge is extremely important.

I get concerned out here in the west towing when averaging somewhere between 7 to 10 mpg at 70 plus mph on mountain roads. Doesn't take a genius to know that 7 mpg x 26 gallons = 182 miles until the gas gauge again shows empty. A remote road sign stating 179 miles to maybe/possibly/could be the next gas isn't too unique. Convinced me in going to taller and not wider from my original tires in order to run the higher OEM tire pressure. Actually improved the distance that I can go between fill ups.

Glad to hear it isn't just me! I still have half a tank right now, so I should need a fill in the next 2 days or so. Will post when I know for sure!

Maybe nobody else does this, but I hand calculate my mileage and reset a trip odometer every time I fill up. No way I’m getting caught out by a malfunctioning fuel level sender or gauge.

The current PWs have a 31 gallon tank. They think they’re empty at 26. No need to panic when the fuel light comes on.

Never had that problem in my '15 PW. I use fulley and reset a trip meter at each fill up. If the gauge showed low prematurely, I'd know.

I'm with you on that one, until I get out west. On the way to Big Bend from Houston towing the pop-up there were two spots where I was sweating based on the two gauges I should trust. After tracking my usage I can say that the truck is set up to keep at least 5 gallons in the tank. I do buy the fuel pump saver theory and most times I do try to abide by the 1/4 tank rule for fill ups, but, I do really want to feel comfortable with where empty really gets me.

Well, ran it down to a quarter tank and filled it up. This time it took over 24 gallons. So, I reset my trip#1 after filling and will keep tabs on it to see if it happens again!

The level readout is close within 3/4 of a gallon or a little more since you wrote over 24 gallons and I can't say that our tanks are 31 gallons exactly in volume as with other vehicles I've owned that number was the useful capacity minus the reserve which was usually somewhere around one gallon.
