I'm referring to the 8 bolt head shaped plastic chrome caps on the wheels. Anyone ever remove these things? I want to paint mine black and I've seen it done before but I haven't found out how to take them off. From what I've seen I'm assuming they're clipped on somehow. I just don't want to break them, and I DEFINITELY am not painting them while they're still on the wheel lol

Are you talking about the little center pieces with the ram head on them? If that's the case u can pop them out with a screw driver, paint, and pop back in.

Nah I'm talking about the 8 chrome caps that look like bolt heads on the fuel hostages. They're not the center caps they're out towards the tire. You can see them in this picture:

So there's no access from the back of the rim?
Hmmmmm, I've never seen these rims in person so I dunno for sure, but they are either screwed in, clipped in, or glued. I would start with unscrewing first. If that's a no go, then you'll have to pull em out. You'll need to protect them so they don't get damaged.

No they're not actually bolts they're just plastic caps for something. They're clipped on but I was just wondering if there was a trick to unclipping them without breaking them. I guess I'll just yank on them and see what happens lol. I've found thread after thread of people that have painted them, but not a single one saying how to remove them

I got the same issue with my KMC XD Addicts.

I just wanna remove them but it appears I have to dismount the tire.

Are they actually steel or are they plastic? Odds are they're just caps like mine. It's highly unlikely they're actually bolted on the inside of the rim.

I was messing with them earlier today, and what do you know, they just screwed off lol. I figured since they were plastic they just clipped in somehow. Anyway I painted them today and I'm letting them sit overnight before I put them back on. I'll post up some pics after I reinstall them.

Here's some progress shots, and no I didn't paint them in the house lol. Came out pretty good for being spray bombed.

In for pics when they're mounted back up. Mine are normally covered anyway [emoji13]

Sorry I haven’t been signed in on this forum in a while. But that’s really strange. It looks like maybe an older design before they were screw on.
