Hey guys, I'm new to the group. I have a 2017 Ram 1500 Longhorn that I am wanting to put a lift on.

Doing a 4"-6" suspension lift with 35" tires is what I want to do. However, this is my daily truck and I put 80-100 miles a day on it. Therefore, I do not want to compromise much fuel mileage.

Can you tell me what mileage you get with the lift and tire size you have?

Also any suggestions are much appreciated!

Thanks

I don't think the lift itself affects mpg. It's usually the larger tires guys install after the lift.

Your big ol tires are going to eat a lot of fuel mileage, there's no way around that.

Since you're going to do it anyway I strongly suggest you correct your speedometer for the new tires using either Jscan or AlfaOBD . Correcting your speedometer will also correct transmission and throttle behavior so your truck can do its best on mpg and power.

I added 35s to mine after the lift and did the correction with AlfaOBD and the mpg really didn't change much and seem to have about the same amount of power. I don't hammer it because I'm not sure how the added weight of turning the tires affects the gears now. It may not really affect them but I'm just not sure so I'm not very aggressive with it.

HP Tuners and a custom tune will help with MPG

And 35's are way to small on a 4" lift. 37s its where its at

Just an experience for you when I had my Jeep. Went from 33s to 35s pm 3.73 gearing. It dropped my effective gearing to 3.52.
Using the chart below, 33/3.73 gave 2470rpms. Then I went across on the 35 line and chose 4.56s. I wanted a lil more 'umph' because of the hilly terrain here.

It was a week for the tires and gear change. With the 35/3.73 combo it dropped the rpms down to 2328. It may not seem like a lot, but on the slightest hill, it would not stay in OD. So constantly dropping a gear, killed my gas mileage. I went from high 16s to high 13s. And the "seat-of-the-pants" performance meter definitely was noticeable. It seemed like it would take forever to get up to 75/80.

When I went to 4.56s, it was like night and day. Also my gas mileage was better than stock. Without dropping a gear on the hills, it kept it in OD and improved the mpg. My co-worker had 35s on stock 3.73s and we did a lil playing around in an old abandoned subdivision and at the 1/4 mile I was constantly 3 Jeeps ahead.

You'll drop 3-4mpg lifted on 35 or 37's. The power loss is very noticeable but regearing brings it back. I get about 13-14 in city. 16+ on highway if I stay below 70mph.

6" lift, 3" body, front kings adjusted 2" higher with 37" tires. I'm getting 13-14 city, 16-19 mpg highway.

That's around what I'm getting with a 6" lift and 37s as well.

I have 7" lift with 37s but with 4.88 gears and I get 14-15 mpgs around town, if I get on the highway I can get up to 17-18 ...

When I had the stock 3.21s I was actually getting about the same mpgs ...

But honestly, with a lift and 35s or 37s expect to see about a drop of about 3-5 mpg and that really depends on how you drive ....

I got a Carven Competitor Series direct fit exhaust on my truck about a year ago now and because it is so much fun to drive especially around town I am averaging about 11-12 mpg right now lol ... but only because I love how the damn truck sounds around town haha !

Don't fear the lift and tires or the gears, trucks were not meant to have migh MPGs anyways
